Tinkerer 08-20-2002 10:41 PM

What is the best route to get down there from MI.
Go to St. Lewis and then what???
I will probably leave Grand Rapids Mi. Thursday afternoon.
616-291-6669

Frequency 08-20-2002 10:53 PM

Take the I270 West bypass around the North side of St. Louis. Get on I70 heading West. Take exit number 148 at Kingdom City, going South on Route 54. Stay on 54 right into Osage Beach (or wherever your lodging is). I'd guess about 2.5 - 3 hours from St. Louis to LOTO.

28Eliminator 08-21-2002 08:33 AM

7 friends and I are heading that way today and should be there tomorrow. We are staying at Tan-Tar-a Resort. Not sure of the # there, but my cell phone # is 605-390-7008.
SummerObsession, We have never been down there, so I'm not sure where Gardenhouse Bed & Breakfast is from Tan-Tar-a, but my buddy (Mike)and I just installed a Whipple on my 502 this summer and would help out in what ever way we can. We had several issues also, but it runs great now.

Von Bongo 08-21-2002 08:34 AM

Where is a good place to get fuel from on the water?
92-93 octane???

283CHECK 08-21-2002 08:48 AM

Von-
My understanding is there are a few that have the higher octane fuel. I know Lake Shores has either 91 or 92 and there prices are pretty good. If you want to verify what they have give them a call.. Number is on the first page of this thread. They are in the 8 mm area back of a deep cove.

Chris

283CHECK 08-21-2002 10:47 AM

Ok, to answer Von's question Lake Shores has 93 octane at around 1.86/gal and their regular is around 1.74/gal this is from the horse's mouth!! They are at the 8mm back of the cove, this is the same cove that Big Thunder is in as you go in I belive that if you go to the right you'll head to big thunder to get to Lake shores you'll need to go left. If anyone is looking for big octane he said to check out Wpoint(?) at around the 3mm they hav 110 octane:eek: somewhere in the $4/gal

Tinkerboater: Frequency has it right, but there is a fairly new by pass you should use also. I-270 on the north side of St. Louis, to I-370 to I-70. 370 is a nice short cut to I-70, and can save a lot of time if traffic is busy.

There is road construction on 270 and also I-70 that can turn it into a parking lot. So take a pit stop shortly after crossing the mississippi river, so you'll be prepaired for a traffic jam if it happens.
