750HP is a pair of 496Mags at 375 HP each.
If you need weight transfer to get the boat on plane:
1) You need a better captain.
2) 1 dude bouncing 185 lbs 12" forward of normal isn't going to do assist in planing.
3) Send the passengers forward, not the captain.
4) Go back and do some homework on your props given that power. It's not a race or kilo boat that needs top speed props.
The boat was probably at 2000-2500 rpm or so. Even so, I wouldn't have left the helm station. It's rare that I do so at anything faster than neutral.
I've switched drivers when on plane, quite a few times, but someone always has a hand on the wheel.
Last two thoughts:
A) It's just a matter of time for that boat.
B) Operators like such are why manufacturers print warning labels.

The idiot who ran his pontoon into a tree jutting out from the shore with a person on the bow got my Darwin award last Sunday. Then he tied up to the tree he was entangled in and started throwing fishing lures around the skanks swimming off the back of their boat. Like he would catch one. Lol

You guys are right. Walking away from the wheel is definitley ok. Especially walking away from the wheel and not having your lanyard on that makes it even more ok. Nevermind he has 3 other peoples lives at stake that look to maybe be there first time on a boat. Nevermind he is on a a lake. Ever hit an underwater stump? Tree? Let me be the FIRST to tell you, they are ALL marked with bright orange tape so you can see them in plenty of time to get back to the wheel. Matter of fact some of them even have a midget standing on top of them, dressed like a leprechaun, with a huge ego, at the end of a rainbow made with skittles, with a bull horn screaming at people to stay away! Try hiting one of those at 20 or 30. But your probably right he could easily get back to the wheel and chop the power at 30. Everyone would be ok.
