Wow, I hope this ends well. I hope these are big blowet motors cause I'm trying to add this $$$ up for NA and it's hard to comprehend unless you're starting from scratch.

Yes Mike, it is Bill at Ateco who is building my engine. It is a whipple 3.3 supercharged 540 with Dart aluminum heads. And yes Rookie this is a from scratch build. I supplied the blower & all accessories, Bill is supplying all new parts for the long block. The only thing different on this build is that Bill is designing a serpentine belt drive because we both feel that 3G for the set ups in the aftermarket are highway robbery. The engine is built and I have confidence that it will run & make the power we are going after. It is just taking forever to get the finish work completed. Don't get me wrong I am not trying to start any crap otherwise I would have started my own ***** thread but maybe a friendly nudge will help get the dust off of my build. I won't go into our conversations unless it becomes needed but I will say there is no screaming & yelling.

I had the same Whipple build done by bill at ateco. 850 hp. i supplied blower, heads n fuel pump. it took awhile - I don't think he deals with the Whipple stuff much. by the time it was over I could have bought one of his turn key BDS blower motors and been a whipple blower and heads richer... same or more HP.

been 3 years ago. I've never fired the motor but I'm doing the finishing touches. I have 100% confidence in his work... his shop has nice equipment and he seems very knowledgeable... by the time I got my engine back I had bought another boat and ive lost interest completely - soon as I get it lined out there will be a 26 scarab with fresh ateco power for sale.

will update.

If I didn't already have the blower set up I might have done just that. I already tried letting a local shop build me an engine & that was a real clusterf@#k. Had I tried to run it I would have ended up shoveling the engine out of the bilge in pieces. I met Bill @ LOTO a few years ago & after talking with him at length about the build let him go at it. I guess I'm just chomping at the bit wanting to hear some blower whine. I would much rather wait a little longer and have an engine that is trouble free than have one rushed and going boom!!
