They were slugs. Same hull as the the 266 CCR and 266 bow rider. My 266 with a 7.4MPI would only run 49 - 50 MPH GPS and that was with a lab finished Bronson Hill prop set. The LTD's may have had a slightly higher X. Not sure. But even with a Bravo I as opposed to a Bravo III they were not fast by any stretch of the imagination. Good looking boats, though.

I was thinking about that, not sure how thick the hull is to just sand the hook out?

Bob Llyod of Full Throttle Marine I believe has experimented with removing the shingles in the hull with less than desirable results.

You won't sand the hook out. Very pronounced.

Crownline are NOT that fast boats, in the 90's them and Mariah were a dime a dozen. Sold and worked on many 225 Crownlines.

The Volvo DP seemed to run the best in the 225 and the bravo III ran better than the bravo I in the Crownline 225. It carried the bow better and lifted the hull better than the single prop drives. Just sold a 225 to a friend of mine last year with a 454 carb 300 hp with Bravo III - thru prop exhaust that does 60 to 61 mph on GPS. For some reason it is a fast Crown for being totally stock.

I had a 95 225BR with a carbed 310/330 454 and a B1. Through hull exhaust and the best it ever saw was 53.
