Yup. Punched his serial numbers in mercury parts express and comes back 1988 Bravo one outdrive. Time to contact an attorney I'd say.

Because the later Fountains are not stamped. I have never owned a 80's model Fountain. All three of mine have looked like a kid carved them out.

Spoiler Alert ::: The side by side seating is the same.....things that make you go hhhhhmmmmm

Also its called a HIN = Hull Identification Number VIN= Vehicle Identification Number.

The reason I haven't posted any interior pics is I am typing from my phone. When I get home I will post pics of interior. However from the 89models you guys have posted and I have looked at my self my interior in the cabin looks the same. My cabin interior where the bed is has 2 small acrylic pieces on each side and then curtains. My bench seats have the little push pins in them as well. Look pretty much like the 89 cabin! It's a good thing the person who sold this boat to us works near us like 10 minutes away! I am not concerned with the engines or anything else now! I read in the fountain section that there are HIN#'s under the dash and behind the interior panel next to the driver seat. Is this correct? Anyone else know where another number may be? I will post pics of the interior when I get home from work tonight.

Thanks for looking that up. I appreciate it very much. Know I am on the hunt for the other hin#s to see what they read. I am willing to bet it says 89 for the last 2 numbers. I think I am going to call fountain back and ask him to run the HIN again but with 89 for the last 2 numbers and see what comes up.

Sounds like the 1989-1990 cabin. The changed to the more modern cabin with "U" shaped seating, got rid of the acrylic uprights between galley and vee berth, in 1992 I believe. LOOONG before 1999.

Sad, he's owned the boat since early 2013 and is now discovering what he bought.
