I am still going no even with those boats coming. That My Way pass was about as picture perfect as you can get.

I wouldn't sell the race teams short, Bill (My way) is a recreational boater. Not the average rec boater, but still he puts no where near the time into the boats as Quatar currently does. It is very possible
Any thing is possible...... Just my thoughts that it doesn't happen this year is all. |

I hope the Qatar team can do it, just because I like to see records like this get broken. It's like winning the Super Bowl, though... so many things have to fall into place just right. In this case, the WEATHER can play a huge factor. Started to get a little tingle when I first read this thread... went looking back through the archives for some pix and now I am sitting here wishing I was there already. :musik010: https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2833/...9acbb84e_o.jpg |
Just for fun, here's one of the passes from 2011.
208 ain't 224, but- still... https://vimeo.com/28306596 |
Hopefully so, as I love seeing records getting broken and boats getting faster!

Hopefully nobody gets broken trying to break it......

As I recall, My Way had one engine pulling harder than the other when that record was set so they probably left something on the table when that 224 mph run was made. A similar boat with both turbines running at 110% could beat the current record with a near perfect pass. With the same package and the stars aligned (not to mention cooler temps would significantly help), 240 mph is more than possible. If not this year, it will happen soon with one of these T-55 powered boats.

Oops. Can't embed video. Never mind.

I am jumping on the NO bandwagon, but I will be there to watch! No one thought 224 would have been hit last year and with a boat with very similar setup, a real 100% racing crew, unlimited money and a year to build and learn from I guess anything is possible!
