OP, take a look at Callies Compstar. Scat is also good. You aren't going to the moon, so IMO a $1500 crank is just money wasted. Here's to better bulletproof motors in 2015!

I built up an engine with the Callies Compstar. They are forged in Japan and finished here. Machining and tolerances were dead on, very nice piece of work for the same $ as a scat or eagle.

Edit: I see they are $100 more than scat/eagle/etc now. Still worth it IMO. VERY nice pieces for $800

Stupid thing to bring up after sitting here thinking, might be embarrassed to ask, what can stock pans take? Hold 9 qts whole system when bumping oil pressure and such maybe ran dry? Gauge didn't flutter or anything but who knows... I cannot find pans that clear my offshore mounts so I used the stock ones ran hard all the time no issues but just another thing to look at...

I need to find pans that have huge rear sump and shallow fronts to clear mounts I could not seem to find any last summer

I have 540 6000 rpm builds making between 700-730 hp using the stock 502 MPI oil pans with no problems. You would have to plug the oil returns in the heads to run out of oil, if that's what you are thinking.

I've seen where too rich can trap fuel between the rings and igniting there damaging the ring lands. Now introduce some oil into the chamber , and oil will promote detonation

Not to mention; thrust side of cylinder wall looks like a mirror.

Dam! I feel like I'am sitting at a table having a beer and discussing; why a engine **** itself.

Just trying to rule out issues

I'm glad you asked, I was also curious about pan size.
