We have a 388 with 850's runs 108-110. Great boat. Extremely well-built. Yes the cabin is smaller but I believe you can make it work. In my opinion the 388 is one of the sexiest boats out there. As far as running the boats I have never ran an AT. But the 388 is a boat with a lot of stern lift. Of course some of that ultimately depends on set up. But still.

I have a 388 with 700's and SCX drives. I came from a 2002 Topgun with 575's. Like was said earlier, the 388 has a different feel to it. You do "feel" the water through the hull differently. Not bad but just different. So far I love the boat. I have slept in it a few nights and it doesn't have a lot of head room, but the size of the bed etc, made it comfy to sleep. (I am 6'5"). I get more comments from strangers on my Hustler than I did with my Cig.

The one I'm looking at is the early step hull as I can't afford a newer one. I've heard exactly what you guys are saying about the 388 from others but wanted personal experience opinions

I agree with the others, the 388 is a little faster (although hairy once you reach the high 90's), but the 37 AT has a way better cabin if that's what you're looking for. I would think even the early AT's with the lower deck would still have a little more cabin room than the 388.

As mentioned above, the 37 Outerlimits has an even more cabin so you might want to look at those also.

I will also add the 37 AT and 37 OL will be better in the rough as well.

The 37OL is bigger than the 37AT, and heavier. I'd compare a 37 Outerlimits with the 38 PowerPlay before anything like an AT, Cigarette, Hustler; strickly comparing sizes.

I was out on a friend's 388 a couple weeks ago. My first time driving one. Coming from a Baja 342, I couldn't believe how light and nimble it felt. Loved the flat ride and great acceleration. Good cockpit room. Nice deep feel to it. I thought it had a decent cabin size. I little tight in and out through the door. I think someone turned off the radio three times that day bumping into the panel coming in and out.

Agree with Brian, the OL is a big boat, not really Similiar to the others as far as size.

2 friends 1 with an AT and 1 with 388. Have spent equal time on both. I got no skin in the game but the AT is heads and shoulders nicer in ride and room just 5 MPH slower with same power. AT all the way!!
