Keep the prayers coming .
They are really needed at this time.

Who is being airlifted? Keep in mind that one of the better hospitals in the area is at the University of Missouri-Columbia, which is about an hour drive from the lake. They airlift a lot of accident victims from the lake area on a regular basis.

Again, not to lessen the severity of the situation, but for those of you not familiar with the lake area, University Hospital is the best facility in the lake area and airlifting him to University is by far the quickest method to get him there.

Pic three and four looked photoshopped they are so high. That is unbelievable, like others have mentioned the construction on the canopy appears to be top notch.

jeff32 08-23-2014 12:47 PM

breath taking video!
what a crash. hope for the best.
when thinking about that, planes take off at similar speed so very thin margin between running wet and blowing over like that...
prayers again...

Waterboy123 08-23-2014 12:58 PM

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, I dare not think what the outcome would have been if that boat hadn't had a canopy.

tommymonza 08-23-2014 12:58 PM

Incredible Video . Wish well to everyone involved.Thank God they were in a canopy boat.

100%. Not too long ago Mr. Al Muhairi and Mr. Sanchez (Victory Team) lost their lives in a similar crash.
Thank god they lost so much energy in the air.

RollWithIt 08-23-2014 01:49 PM

Wow... a testament to the design and construction that they even survived that crash.. Hope they both have a speedy recovery...

jayboat 08-23-2014 01:51 PM

Happened right in front of me- 200ft away. Glad they are alive and wishes for a speedy recovery.

That thing was airborne.

Kudos to OL for making one tough boat...... glad to hear the Pilots are OK..... Being an Airline Pilot myself I am wondering why these boats are not designed with more basic stability or controllability? Maybe an automatic spoiler deploy system that keeps the nose down if pitch exceeds 15*??? Small canards up front for some kind of limited pitch control??? In this day and age of super technology I know it can be done? Here is a boat in perfect, calm conditions and crashes......... Every year we see the same thing and people die.... Every year....... Who else is going to die this year? next year?
Is it really worth risking your life to take these boats to such high speeds? TBF

PigNaPoke 08-23-2014 02:12 PM

Jus saw boat headed east on 54... canopy looks bad. Pray for them.

bripar77 08-23-2014 02:34 PM

Thoughts and Prayers are all that matters now.

Thought and prayers for both Mike and Joel. Both great guys, and Mike is a great guy to boat with. Did Big Cat Poker Run with him last weekend and chatted a bit. Great guy, all of us at Wozencraft Insuance will be saying a prayer for both men. Hate to seen anyone get hurt doing what we all enjoy so much.

the deep 08-23-2014 02:51 PM

Prayers for both men . Well built cat to say the least .

mcprodesign 08-23-2014 02:54 PM

At a buck eighty! Can not imagine where they would be without a canopy. Those big cats and hydros fly really high on blowover. That boat was atleast 150' in the air. Your only prayer in non canopy cat or hydro is to be thrown out of the boat and not run over. I can't even jump in the water from 30 feet without pain. Imagine hitting 180 mph water. You might skip but i doubt it. Something to really think about. Glad the canopy worked. But still slamming on the water in a fiberglass box is not the best thing either. Super stoked they will live to tell! God bless

As per Speed on the waters FB post

"Mike Fiore is in critical but stable condition. His family has asked not to detail specifics of his injuries, but he is expected to recover"
