Picture walking down two sidewalks that are parallel to each other. They are both straight. The one on the left has no hill in it and its flat. The one on the right has a small rise so it has two steps in it. I lay a straight edge on the bottom of my 91 Fountain and its flat, not so with a 96. I hope both the flat bottomed Fountain and the stepped bottom Fountain have straight bottoms. Ok, back to work I go.

Flat bottom means flat bottom, as in like a boat that has no vee. They do exist. They do NOT call those style hulls straight bottoms.
