A question about TWINS
OK so this is probably a very cut and dry question but, How much fuel do TWINS (502MAG) actually burn? Now this could be perceived as running wide open and that would be not too long, maybe a day. Basically in a nutshell, I found a smoking deal that is too hard to pass up on a '97 Baja 29 Outlaw with TWINS and low hours from the original owner. The main thing that scares me is the 146 gallon fuel tank and having to fill that sucker up. My boating consists of a few hours of cruising around, a few WOT bursts and the rest of the time, anchored and tied up with friends. This would be my first performance boat and do not want to bite off more than I can chew. I was originally looking at the 25-27' range with a single until I found this Outlaw at a smoking deal ($35k with 240hours in excellent condition). What are your thoughts?

Don't fill it up, run around 1/2 tank, full fuel= weight, you can get a 100 different answers on fuel burn, have the ecm scanned to verify hours, sounds like a nice boat, buy the 29 you'll want one in a year anyway over a 27 single, is it fresh water or salt, does it have a trailer, good luck

Ditto, I have had both a single 502 and now twins, the single was carbed, now I have EFI's, my experience is before it would cost me $150 on the average weekend, now it cost me $200 a weekend, thats the average, if it a high testosterone weekend it can be a tad more severe, but based on the normal cruising weekend, and a cpl hits on the throttles its really not that bad, and the EFI's definitely helped, also when trying to get somewhere the single would be wound up, the twins just purring so there is not as much need for WOT LOL

Yes that makes sense that the dual engines are not working as hard. Check out the link and let me know your thoughts. http://petersmarine.com/Gallery.aspx...-29-Outlaw-SST It looks clean and seems like a great deal.
