There's no better adrenaline rush like having 700+ hp engines in a big offshore powerboat that you can't accelerate hard with or run hard with in anything but 6" chop! Feel the rush!!!! :pacifier:

Hey!!!!! ..... Us poor performance boaters cant afford two #6 blower boats Mr. Rockefeller. I didn't buy a TRS boat because I wanted to! I bought it because I had to!!!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha...
My point wasn't so much about the $ as it was about people frequently going big on the power but neglecting to also consider beefier drives when in the end they have a big bad performance boat that has to be treated like grandmas Sunday car. In my mind it kind of defeats the purpose of having all that power if you can't ever use it or if you're popping drives like they are coming out of a Pez despenser... |

I agree with the bravo statement. I ran a gun with 750 blower motors and bravos broke one drive in 3 years and the previous owner still hasn't broke one yet. It's all in the way you drive them.

Because you "had to"? Like you "had to" because your wife was holding a gun to your head wanting yet another boat, preferably one with TRS drives to put your 572's into? Or like you "have to" stick a big blower engine in the little Baja with a bravo behind it? :D

You don't think my Puerto Rican wife has a gun???? Y E S with a gun to my head! She made me do it!!!!!! Haha.... No I hear what your sayin, I just cant see anyone that has the "funds" buying a TRS/Bravo boat and putting big power into it. If you can afford an Arenson /SSIV /SSV, or SSVI.....then it makes no sense building a TRS/Bravo bomb. |
BTW....the blower motor and Bravo combo is all I can afford!!!!! It will be fine! :party-smiley-004:

+1 I had a 382 Formula that weighed a ton (2000lbs) more than my Top Gun. I blew one drive in 2 yrs and it wasn't an XR. We can debate this forever but it does have a lot to do with how you drive. !

In 1974 the 35 foot Cigarette boat that was raced as Spirit and then Benihana, won the Bahamas 500.
Because of the so called oil shortage, the race was reduced down to just 303 miles. The engines were Mercruiser engines of 600 HP each with SSM #3 drives. For the entire 303 miles the boat averaged for the race.....83.4 MPH |
