It sounds like the flatdecks must have been significantly heavier if they are that much slower, that and/or maybe the drives were even lower on the earlier boats.

I say go for it! These TRS drives have been through 3 owners with the first having 650 HP a side, then these 572's were put in and they have lived for 3 seasons so far. I believe the TRS do hurt performance on top end of the RPM range. Seems to be significant prop slip for 5200 to 5500 RPM. I would attribute that to the non-aero dynamic Fred Flinstone design. But as always with older drives, we have been careful with coming on plane and being pretty quick on the sticks when the boat leaves the water. I really cant knock the TRS.

I am a firm believer in the TRS but I have to admit wanting to put 650+ to them in a Mistress is a little scary, but I also know how to run the boat so I hope that helps, I have a couple brand new gearsets for the lowers on shelf also.... and my best buddy sets them up right, he clubbe 600hp to TRS for years never had issues... I hope I dont either! I expect to break once in a while... par for the course ...

I had a 1987 trs 420 boat that I converted to 750 with bravos. It ran around 85 and didn't have many drive issues,I did have drive temp gauges...when temps went up I pulled back. I know people usually slam the bravos but mine worked really well good balance and flew great!!

I agree with the bravo statement. I ran a gun with 750 blower motors and bravos broke one drive in 3 years and the previous owner still hasn't broke one yet. It's all in the way you drive them.

There's no better adrenaline rush like having 700+ hp engines in a big offshore powerboat that you can't accelerate hard with or run hard with in anything but 6" chop! Feel the rush!!!! :pacifier:
