I personally never had an issue with storing a boat in a cold environment. It's moisture that bothered me the most. After looking into manufactured carports, I concluded, l need to make my own since most aren't designed for snow and if so very little. Plus, I was feeling the need to build something. Subsequently, I decided to make a "boat port" to help protect my boats from the environment. After 11lbs of wire, a tank of gas and about 110 hours I end up with this. Designed to be expandable too.

Nice work Andy! Looks like lots of welding.
I`m better at making things out of wood, the stairs and deck are the best thing since sliced bread at working on the boat. Had a buddy put a 20' beam up there for engine pulling too http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s3/...33078459-3.jpg http://33outlaw.zenfolio.com/img/s2/...45238100-3.jpg |
As cold as it looks with snow on the ground, I hope for your sake, you are putting walls up. I woke up and it's 28 outside here in SC, and going to work and turning the heat on. I'm originally from northeast Ohio, and going back to see family over Christmas. That will be enough cold weather for me as long as there's snow I'm ok. I miss the winter snow sports. If anyone; needs some engine work, I will trade it out for some snowmobiling adventures as long as you don't kill me with crazyness.

I don`t know about Andy but if I wanted walls I would have built a different structure like a garage. This serves its intended purpose to keep the sun, rain and snow off the boat.

Here is mine
Next year I think I am building something that is anchored to the ground with a metal roof but this works for now! Nice thing is I can install it in my driveway and then back the boat into the back yard with the structure already built! http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...ps28280324.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...ps9571948e.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...psb0dff9f5.jpg http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i4...psc4228986.jpg |
