The water patrols shuold just sit at the ramps. They could write a bunch of tickets for L.B.U.I. ( loading boat under influence ) and it would also relieve a bunch of the congestion at the ramps on weekends.

I like where your heads at. How about sit at the ramp and watch the crazy's launch their boats, then write them a ticket and tell them to go home. That would save a lot of time at the ramp and aggravation out on the water!

I know what you are saying. About half way between us and the Baltimore harbor is a USCG training base. Every so many months we get a whole new lot of Coasties full of piss and vinegar on boats full of firepower. Like I said in the post in the other thread that lead to this one sometimes around here it looks like a war zone and I don't care what side of the law you are on or if it was the pope himself behind the 50cal when its pointed at you while you are in the Chesapeake Bay during a "safety check" don't make you feel much like an American. So yes there is ASSHATS in the USCG maybe not the guys you see on TV jumping out of helicopters but.....

I've never really been bothered around home but.... In old saybrook ct.
I dropped scot off at the marina gas dock to go get the truck and trailer for his rough rider, and idled up River a mile or so to the ramp "between the bridges". As I'm pulling into the ramp with another guy on board with me I see the dep flailing his arms and yelling something. Then out comes the megaphone..... "SHUT IT DOWN!" Well the river has an 6+knot current. Yeah sorry bud ain't shutting down and losing control of this thing. Not exactly easy to get stag 900's spinning in back pointed the way you want. I get into the dock and the guy says "why didn't you shut it down???!?!?" Sorry sir but this isn't mine and I'm not going to scratch it or put it on the rocks. And isn't the first rule of boating safety to always be in control of your vessel? After a little talk and showing him the tailpipes were full of baffles to quiet it down, that efforts had been made he calmed down and let us go.

warrant such a bloated and dysfunctional agency ...thus begins the hyper- enforcement of the misdemeanor , which as we know
can easily turn into a brass- ring felony ....imho
