I'm finding your comment more and more true the longer I'm in this sport. Have to say I put up with a lot of crap that comes with performance boating because there's nothing better then getting in my boat alone after a long day of work and letting her rip for a nice 30 or 40 minute run to Block Island or Montauk Yacht Club for a bite to eat and a cold beer. Nothing clears my mind better and the faster and better handling the boat just seems to make it better so I'll be buying selling testing tuning critiquing and asking you more experience guys dumb questions for as long as I can afford it!!!!!! Thanks for the comment cheers

That's great enjoying trouble free season.
Im trying to get like you in my activator. this year made couple of changes, switch to 20" midsections and switch prop rotation to spinning out, and playing with engine height. boat was giving me too much stern lift and no bow lift. So my focus now for 2016 is props bravo 1s 26p and 28p to correct the problem. my bravo1 28p will have mild labbed, diffuser ring cut, some cupping and vent holes. im sure ill be more closer to my mph goal in 2016 |

I for one can speak from experience as I owned an allison river race hull with a mariner 260 hp SS. It was propped to accelerate hard to a top end of 116. In flat water it would out run many boats including stv, skaters and spectre. It was set up for quarter mile drag racing. Super light weight hull.
In choppy or rough water conditions it felt like your life flashed before you though. Having a few close encounters in this ride made me sell it and I bought my first cat, a 30 spectre with twin 2.5s later added another to make it a triple it was a great boat. |

I have a tough time believing you could run away from STVs with the same power and similar weight.

here is my triple ported 260 offshore set up on a 27 Excalibur
is definatlely a very fast excelerating boat from 0-85 and from 85 on better be I correct conditions it is not the fastest under 30 vee,,,it is only 6' wide at transo,24deg rise, and wide full length lifting strakes 3" from bottom so is a very fast planning and excellerating boat riding very dry it is a rough water boat,,,,and set up for rough water,,,,props, motor heights, ballast tanks all rigged for open seas if wanted a faster boat would have used a lake hull with a pad, less degree and wider,,,,such as tuff, super, progression, ect or put same motors on a cat and go faster than the vees u can always build what u want,,,fastest or best handling in rough when talking offshore hulls if talking small 18-20 drag hulls,,,,,,F1 tunnel with same power is faster than an Allison, stv, mirage all in want u want just as apples to apples,,,,, same power on same size hull ,,,tunnel will be faster just as single i/o on a vee to" same motor package" on same sized cat,,,,,cat has less water drag and is air entrapped not relying on power for lift out of the water,,,air speed does that or twins o/b "same motors"on 28 vee to 28 cat u can make any of them fast vee or cat just in what u want,,,,,i like fast in the rough water not glass as that's what an offshore boat is to me so I modified a 27 hull to hold my power and cg,ed to slice through the rough at higher speeds than normal 27 would do and yes can get more out of it if I move my motors height,,prop changes, but id loose the grip I want through the rough when water gets snotty and this little set up has passed many larger hulls in 1-3s+ at cruse speeds not opened up |
