I'm a twin guy smarty and my next boat will be a cat need to see what I'm missing out on. I've learned that I don't play well with the south shore guys so I choose to play in the Hampton's where Im a home owner thanks for the comment. Smarty I respect your opinion if I did get another V bottom hull it will probably be a classic Cigarette what's your favorite and why?
A boat I can afford would be a 27' Magnum, after having ridden in one for 19 years I know what to expect or a 30' Sutphen, I can realistically afford those boats, they are predictable, ride good, no surprises, or have Will Smith build a new 32' Phantom (if you ask he will build it) with Ilmor staggered small blocks, which is not too far out of my monthly payment reach. My favorite brand is Skater, everything else is a distant second, but you asked about V-bottom. |
I am trying to PM you please free up some space in your PM's

Interesting analogy never been in a 24' Skater although I was gonna buy one when I bought my 24' SuperBoat. The individual who at the time was counseling me loved the boat but highly recommend I not buy it due to the waters i boat in saying that the skater would not ride well at all in those conditions. nevertheless I'm a huge fan of the look and speed there capable of. As far as the hull comparison I can only comment on my experience coming from the 24' SuperBoat the Progression is a much more user friendly interior cockpit and cabin. Driving one on the other hand the Progression difinitely has a learning curve much steeper then the SuperBoat but once mastered is soooo much faster and better suited for my conditions with the exception of when things get really big and that I believe is all about set up on the Progression however time will tell. Thanks for the feedback Team Saris love your work and congratulations on your World Championships......

He won't know your reference, but I do.....I would always want to be in a 27' progression over a 22' Stingray anyday of the week
I'm sure this Progression is pretty fast, but comparing it to a cat? When I watch the videos I see a boat trimmed to the moon on pretty flat water. If that's where the boat is run, it probably is a contender. In my local waters if you are running in the 90's, you would not be getting passed often. However, the water conditions usually say that a 27' boat is going to be limited to much lower speeds. |

I'm not irritated. I just think there's a 90+% probability of two things... 1) Your boat is slower than you proclaim and 2) You're a douche.
And by the way... sanctioned racing is a "sport", what we do is a "hobby". |

Hi!
A Will Smith 30 feet Phantom with 2 x 300xs will run in excess of 100 mph. However, thats a lightweight design too. A Tuff 28 will do the same. Also a low profile lightweight boat. A friend of mine raced a Skater 28 with twin Merc 2.5 EFI in Dubai. He told me he did 110-115 all day And then you have mine 30 years old Phantom 25 with twin Merc 2.5 EFI's. It ran 88 mph. Now I have a single 350 sci, run 81-82 mph and enjoying the ride, scenery and mpg (4,7) Hopefully there will be a 400 hp out there next summer, and I will cruise 86-88 mph Cheers Toffen |

Hi,
A Motion 25 with twin 250xs runs 106 mph. A Skater 28 with twin Promax 300 (not x) runs 110 mph. Phantom 23 vee from UK with twin Merc 2.5 EFI runs between 112-115 mph. Thats fast indeed. However, this hull has a pad and notched transom. My 25 is made for offshore curcuit and runs very flat (long running surface, no pad, no notched transom and steep bow). Someday I will buy a OL SV29 with a single 565. Set up correctly it runs 101 mph. Cheers Toffen |
an older 25 warlock cat with twin 2.5 merc fishing motors will run 90. 30 Spectre with twin 300XS will top out to 104 on radar in light chop.
The only V bottom that could give these cats a hard time [ 122 mph] would be the Howard 28 Bullit with huge power in calm water.http://www.howardboats.com/boat_spec...28_bullet.html I think the 30 Spectre is the best bang for the money and relatively cheap, buying used. If money was no object, the 32 DW would be my choice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-q9qOcIPUg |
