Thanks FT!
Not 100% complete but doing a phenomenal job. I explained that I basically wanted to build a cover that would act somewhat like a bow rider cover. They went a step further & made it slip over the bow so I can actually tow w/ it on. Added a little detail to the cabin too! |
Very nice job on all 3. Congrats. Stripe is a very nice upgrade.
|
Slightly cheaper than painting it on and not permanent either.:cool:

I think you are going to have a problem with water collecting on that cover when it rains. |
Once it's pulled tight tomorrow, we'll know better whether it needs a center pole. It's 1 piece from bow to stern w/ 4 adjustable straps (like on a Lifeline or Ski Vest) at the stern to cinch it tight. My boat resides indoors so this cover will only get used when the boat is outside overnight or traveling with iffy weather. They're making me a a fitted protective sleeve to slide over the windscreen too.
All the buttons are mounted to the underside of the rubrail, bungie loops on the cover. NO SNAPS!! There's also bungie cord sewn into the entire front area that is slip fitted over the bow & below the rubrail to keep the first 8-10' of cover taught & secure against the hull. |

Sailrite Stayput Shock Cord System, no snaps to deal with nor any worry about cover shrinkage etc! (mine are all black)

Finished product came out very nice. Fits very snug, didn't even tape the bow for the tow home although I barely ran 55mph. Definitely will tape for Interstate speeds.
It came w/ a pole for the bow but it's not installed in any of these pics. You can see 2 of the 4 adjustable straps that pull the entire cover rearward keeping it snug. Installer patterned for a pillowcase style pullover sock for the windscreen, pick that up Mon. |
Very nice job! You pick good people for everything. :eureka:

Hey Michael,
What about the cowling covers? Did you get them as well? |
Ron- I did not but I know he could make a sock that would slip over all 3 cowls if I wanted it. Do you tow w/ a sock over your o/b's?
|
Nice looking cover. What did you use for fabric? Looks like it contours to the boat very well.
|
WeatherMax 80, significantly lighter and less expensive than Sunbrella but still waterproof .

I message me your phone or email and I'll reach out to you and let you know about the cover places I know of

I have some of these on the back of my cockpit cover. If those are like mine and the plastic backing is exposed on the backside of the cover it will mark up the hull. I had to cut circular pieces of the soft side of Velcro out and adhere to the backside and no more marking from the plastic. Looks good!
I had the very same concerns so I had the cover guy sew in a 2 inch hem of soft fabric so the Grommets have no contact with my boat. |

Jeff, Randy Kent at Marine Concepts here at the lake makes a bunch of high end covers. You can see some of his work on his web site. He has made them for the Nor-Tech CCs and a number of large cats. And you can come visit for a few days when you come up to talk to him:rolleyes:. Hope all is going well.

I have seen Randy's covers and they are very nice and all encompassing offering full coverage plus the ability to tow but I bet you he gets 3-4 times what I paid for my cover.

Looks like a quality piece & I understand the application is quite a bit different. Certainly serves it's purpose for the boater who keeps his boat on a lift.

Filled the boat up to 1/2 tank (135gals) then took it to the scales. My off the cuff guess was 13,500lbs for the boat, 1/2 tank of Fuel, Trailer & Gear. I was close, it weighed in at 14,100lbs. If I lost 100 gals of fuel the boat would weigh in at my guesstimated weight of 13,500 which is close to what it weighed on the tow home from SportBoats.
So based on a combined boat & trailer weight of 14,120lbs and a 2300lb trailer that means my boat weighs 11,820lbs w/ 1/2 tank fuel (135 gals) |

Look at the deck floor thickness (where the battery cables come thru) Thanks Bling Bling, headed to JAX PR this weekend, then some leisurely boating in Charleston on the ICW w/ friends the following weekend. |

We didn't get to participate in FMO's final event to Sarasota Fri but I did get to do some Gulf Coast boating before I loaded up & headed home. Long haul back to Charlotte & we about dodged the rain until the final 2 hrs. No big deal just a little extra clean up.
Congrats on a great looking set-up. Awesome set-up! |
