Thanks FT!

Not 100% complete but doing a phenomenal job. I explained that I basically wanted to build a cover that would act somewhat like a bow rider cover. They went a step further & made it slip over the bow so I can actually tow w/ it on.

Added a little detail to the cabin too!

Mentalpause 05-29-2015 09:14 PM

Very nice job on all 3. Congrats. Stripe is a very nice upgrade.

NASCAT 05-29-2015 09:18 PM

Slightly cheaper than painting it on and not permanent either.:cool:

That shop is spotless! I want my boat worked on by that guy!

I think you are going to have a problem with water collecting on that cover when it rains.

NASCAT 05-29-2015 09:37 PM

Once it's pulled tight tomorrow, we'll know better whether it needs a center pole. It's 1 piece from bow to stern w/ 4 adjustable straps (like on a Lifeline or Ski Vest) at the stern to cinch it tight. My boat resides indoors so this cover will only get used when the boat is outside overnight or traveling with iffy weather. They're making me a a fitted protective sleeve to slide over the windscreen too.

All the buttons are mounted to the underside of the rubrail, bungie loops on the cover. NO SNAPS!!
There's also bungie cord sewn into the entire front area that is slip fitted over the bow & below the rubrail to keep the first 8-10' of cover taught & secure against the hull.

Sailrite Stayput Shock Cord System, no snaps to deal with nor any worry about cover shrinkage etc! (mine are all black)

They don't even offer any boat services but they do employ a 10+ yr boat cover making veteran so since HMS is their largest customer (for car covers, cart covers, tents, pit wall banners, storage bags, etc, etc) they are doing me a favor. They basically have all the NASCAR team business in the area. In addition to the above they make window nets, heat shields, seat covers you name it. Quite a facility!

Finished product came out very nice. Fits very snug, didn't even tape the bow for the tow home although I barely ran 55mph. Definitely will tape for Interstate speeds.

It came w/ a pole for the bow but it's not installed in any of these pics. You can see 2 of the 4 adjustable straps that pull the entire cover rearward keeping it snug.

Installer patterned for a pillowcase style pullover sock for the windscreen, pick that up Mon.

Hey Michael,
What about the cowling covers? Did you get them as well?

NASCAT 05-30-2015 08:09 PM

Ron- I did not but I know he could make a sock that would slip over all 3 cowls if I wanted it. Do you tow w/ a sock over your o/b's?

RaggedEdge 05-31-2015 08:56 AM

Nice looking cover. What did you use for fabric? Looks like it contours to the boat very well.

NASCAT 05-31-2015 09:46 AM

WeatherMax 80, significantly lighter and less expensive than Sunbrella but still waterproof .

Man..that boat looks real clean, and sharp looking..very impressive..Congrats...question.. on the top, where can I get one similar for a production 39' Cat CC I'm designing in NC. Thanks for the help. Jeff

NASCAT 05-31-2015 09:50 AM

I message me your phone or email and I'll reach out to you and let you know about the cover places I know of

I have some of these on the back of my cockpit cover. If those are like mine and the plastic backing is exposed on the backside of the cover it will mark up the hull. I had to cut circular pieces of the soft side of Velcro out and adhere to the backside and no more marking from the plastic. Looks good!

Jeff, Randy Kent at Marine Concepts here at the lake makes a bunch of high end covers. You can see some of his work on his web site. He has made them for the Nor-Tech CCs and a number of large cats. And you can come visit for a few days when you come up to talk to him:rolleyes:. Hope all is going well.

Thanks for sharing Knot.
I had the very same concerns so I had the cover guy sew in a 2 inch hem of soft fabric so the Grommets have no contact with my boat.

I have seen Randy's covers and they are very nice and all encompassing offering full coverage plus the ability to tow but I bet you he gets 3-4 times what I paid for my cover.

Your cover looks awesome. Randy's stuff is popular here, and mainly he does fixed covers for boats on lifts. Different market here. I keep my CC on a lift all year and I know Jeff keeps his boats on a lift At his home. Common here. His slide on covers for boats on lifts work great. But as you said, you pay for the convenience. Here is his cover for boats on lifts.

NASCAT 05-31-2015 08:55 PM

Looks like a quality piece & I understand the application is quite a bit different. Certainly serves it's purpose for the boater who keeps his boat on a lift.

Ron- Thanks for the GXM-52 Weather/XM Radio antenna recommendation to compliment the other electronics you provided. I'm getting an intermittent signal currently so I may have to mount the antenna on the hardtop after all. I have one more thing I'd like to try before I tackle the hardtop mount.

If I lost 100 gals of fuel the boat would weigh in at my guesstimated weight of 13,500 which is close to what it weighed on the tow home from SportBoats.

Weighed the trailer empty today. It weighed in at 2300lbs even.

So based on a combined boat & trailer weight of 14,120lbs and a 2300lb trailer that means my boat weighs 11,820lbs w/ 1/2 tank fuel (135 gals)

Nor-Tech literature claims 9k for the boat. Doing the math that number appears to be without power since the engines are 600+ each. Now I know what my boat weighs as rigged. Thanks!

Without asking Terry (which I never did) I wasn't sure what the 9000 or 9500#'s published weight represented but like anything else OPTIONS also affect the total. For instance I have 6 batteries & 2 chargers on my boat, 3 engine, 1 house & 2 for the A/C.

That's the weight of a basic twin engine 34 with no fuel.

NASCAT 06-01-2015 08:47 AM

Thanks for clarifying Terry!

I am really surprised it is that heavy, Nortech must really make a rock solid boat.

It's a pretty rock solid boat.

Look at the deck floor thickness (where the battery cables come thru)

Thanks Bling Bling, headed to JAX PR this weekend, then some leisurely boating in Charleston on the ICW w/ friends the following weekend.

NASCAT,
Congrats on a great looking set-up. Awesome set-up!
