Thanks for posting Mark, I was suffering from so much sensory overload Fri & Sat that I barely took any pics.

Thanks Greg, I appreciate your input & support throughout the process including the trek you made across the state to join me for my first meeting w/ Sportboats & Nor-Tech.

Evolution Trailers

6 Attachment(s)
A few more up close pictures of the Evolution Trailer construction & attention to detail. As I mentioned we did a bunk fitting right at the ramp Fri before we ever left the dock.
What a tease, here I am sitting in my boat, floating w/ engines running & I can't go anywhere. It was well worth it though to ensure the UHMW bunks fit properly. No give in the UHMW like wood & carpet bunks so they must fit perfect.

One of my favorite features is the aluminum wedge built just ahead of the forward axle in case you drop the trailer off the end of a ramp. Hope not to ever utilize that feature BUT someone assisting me in the past helped me document the actual ramp length & it wasn't pretty.

Nascat I really appreciate you sharing this build process with us in such detail, most of us will never have the chance to experience a new custom ordered new build but it was great to see the process.

Beautiful Boat Nascat. Happy and safe boating.

Thanks Steve, it's been a long time coming. The first part being what my next boat would be. Once I decided on a Performance CC the rest of the pieces fell into place rather quickly.

Stimleck- It's been my pleasure to share. I appreciate everyone's support, positive feedback, comments and suggestions.
The OSO forums have been good to me, opening my eyes & educating me over the many years so this is my attempt to try to give back. Several years ago when I documented the ILMOR drive upgrade performed on my last boat the thread got more than 300,000 views & I was blown away that, that many people were interested in the project.

One of the things that I've learned & tried to retain through my many years in the world of NASCAR is to treat each fan as if they are the first to ever have a question & respond w/ the same enthusiasm. If I had a $1 for the number of times I've been asked many of the same questions LIKE- "how do they change tires so fast" or "what does the driver do when he has to go to the bathroom" to name a few, I would have built a Nor-Tech 390 w/ Quad 400R's :drink:

I think it really sank in when I became the fan asking the GAZILLION questions the first time I toured a boat manufacturing facility. Over the years I've been to Pantera, Sonic, Spectre, Fountain, Skater & Nor-Tech so imagine how many questions I asked & how much I appreciated someone sharing with me.

So that's my story & I'm sticking to it.

With that being said, "what does the driver do when he has to go to the bathroom" LOL....Boat looks great. Love the color combo inside and out.

Mentalpause 04-14-2015 11:17 AM

Great job Nascat on both the boat and the trailer. Can't say enough about the rigging on the electronics. I wondered about leaving the engines black vs white, but it was the right call. They look way better black with the rest of the boat. BTW, where did you place the head unit for the stereo? Somewhere in the cabin?

bill63 04-14-2015 04:11 PM

Can't wait too see it this weekend ... Great looking

nofastboat 04-14-2015 06:55 PM

that back seat looks great! super cool full on couch! would love to see pics of who sits on it B-)

Thank you

#1- option is to hold it or let it go.

No options for #2 nor any accidents I'm aware of.

Thanks for the kind words.

The Fusion IP 700 is located in the Port Cabin wall between the storage compartment & berth bulkhead.

Nice boat and impeccably finished nascat, have really enjoyed this build thread , since i took a tour of nortech last fall. Have a great time on on your new ride!

jmeng 04-15-2015 10:53 AM

Congrats. The boat came out great, I like everything about it. Love the shortened forward lounge! Once you get some time in it I'd be curious to here rpm vs speed numbers at cruising speeds.

NASCAT 04-15-2015 08:18 PM

While I can't take the sole credit for all the custom changes applied to my boat I'm hearing some of them will now be std on the 340 Sport.

Unfortunately I'm not going to make the FMO event. Bummer for sure but when you put the level of detail & customization I did into my boat as well as acted somewhat as a GC overseeing my own electronics and trailer the responsibility of making sure I leave Fort Myers w/ the boat & trailer I want falls solely on me. If that means an extra day to dot the I's or cross the T's then I have to make the executive decision to pull the plug in my own best interest. Was really looking forward to the event, boating in the Gulf and meeting many of you I've interacted w/ here.
Have a great event, be safe and post lots of pics somewhere.

Is the Trailer Raw Aluminum or is it Anodized/Alodine treated?? just wondering..

Double C 04-15-2015 09:38 PM

NASCAT, thank you for all the updates in the process of your build. The boat turned out great. Now it's time to burn some gas.

The trailer is constructed out of Mill Finish Extruded 6061-T6 C-Channel & I-Beam

fastdonzi 04-16-2015 01:38 PM

Soooo, Is that cool for Salt Water?? At Cougar we used to Spray the Raw Aluminum with Alodine. That would stop it from being eaten by the salt. Radio towers and antenna's are required to have that treatment as well. I guess the 6061 must be better than the stuff we used 30 yrs ago.. I think they just called It "Aluminum" Lol... :)

NASCAT 04-16-2015 01:46 PM

6061-T6 is very malleable, formable & easy to weld.

I don't know of any Aluminum Trailer Mftr using any type of specialty alloy nor any coatings.

I'd tell you what I was told to use on it to further protect the trailer from the elements but the EPA would be at my door in minutes so I can post that!:party-smiley-004:

Not that I think you need to or should paint the trailer, Axalta makes Corlar that is great for corrosive environments.

fastdonzi 04-16-2015 08:25 PM

The EPA is cool if you piss on that Trailer..... But That's A Lot of Trailer :) Lol

Really I was just trying to find out how/what was protecting it... I thought salt was Aluminums nemesis.. I'm sure if you rinse it good (Which I know You will) it'll be fine..I assumed they got treated in some way.. Carry On enjoying that thing...

We didn't get to participate in FMO's final event to Sarasota Fri but I did get to do some Gulf Coast boating before I loaded up & headed home. Long haul back to Charlotte & we about dodged the rain until the final 2 hrs. No big deal just a little extra clean up.

Quinlan 04-20-2015 06:01 PM

Nice

You stick one of the Hendricks packages in the Camaro?

wananewboat 04-20-2015 07:25 PM

What is the height of the door at your garage?
