Getting a bit excited now that it's becoming a reality. You are taking all the fun out of the mystery w/ such direct questions.:lolhit: They are Mercury Verado 350's in a Verado 400 style scheme. My dealer John Kray came up w/ the idea. |
It looks great, but you better be ready, that's not the first time that question will be asked.

Good answer, best of luck with the new boat.

Very nice. Congrats. Are the engines pearl white to match the boat sides?

Great looking boat Michael! |

I have this sneaky suspicion all soon to be new boat owners get told that just like when women try on clothes at the store "Girl that looks great on you" I guess I'll have to take their word for it. All four paint colors are pearl or metallic. The white is Nor-Tech white that matches their gel w/ silver pearl so it's custom. The Black, GM Black Diamond Metallic The Red, Audi Tango Rot The Silver, Mercedes Iridium Silver |
Wow that looks awsome! I can only dream of a boat like that! Good luck with her. Now, you have to promise that you will keep it longer than the wait to build it! :-)

This build is 13mos and counting from the time I put a deposit down on a production slot SportBoats already had. In other words I assumed a production slot that was already assigned to Sportboats. I don't know when SportBoats committed to slot 37-206 but that would officially start the build clock in my opinion. |
i Really dig the all black bottoms on boats for some reason. :ernaehrung004:

The newer 390 w/ the striped hull is one that completed in 2018 before my boat went into production. I thought it was unique. Not sure if its paint or gel. If gel someone paid $$$$$ to get that done b/c NT typically sprays the entire hull 1 gel color and thats it. My family was so confused when I sent them pics yesterday b/c all along they thought my boat was going to be black from looking all the pics as it was being rigged, pre-paint.https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c40b1dfe2a.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...8e10f75506.jpg |
Nascat great thread. This would have made Dock Holiday proud for the longest thread.

It's a very nice boat. I have a question for you. Why did go from the cat to a v hull CC? Why not a high performance CC cat. You can have all the same amenities. I'm building a very high end 31 ft CC cat for the Merc 400R. So I'm curious about the switch. Your input would be gratefully appreciated.

To be honest at the time (2014) I was not aware of a hi-perf cat CC in the mid 30' range that offers the same amenities and capabilities that an Intrepid, Nor-Tech, Mystic, Statement or Sunsation offer (these are the boats I considered / sea trialed before ordering the Nor-Tech). Keep in mind I spec my CC's to be performance cruisers not fish boats so the hi end cat CC would need to offer a similar package. Fast forward to today & I'm still not aware of such a boat line and I wanted a boat w/ all the same features but larger thus my opting to go from a 34' to a 39' Nor-Tech. |
Man she turned out great! Congrats! Watch yourself on the steering wheel knob! Was driving a boat in Lemon Bay this past Sunday that had a wheel like that. Holy sac swat while standing! :stooges: Betting that wheel is high enough though that it shouldn't be an issue. Saw a new 39 NT CC with trip 400's while we were running the intercostal in that area. Man those are sweet boats!

New boat, deserves a new trailer!
This is the beginnings of my Broward Trailer. They scan the hull bottom of each boat they build a trailer for to insure an optimized & proper fit. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...74d9bac0e8.jpg |

Many of the components are bench fabricated ahead of time then all the parts and pieces come together on a jig where they are welded into place. Much more efficient than cutting and fabricating all the material as they go. I much prefer the way Broward bends & joins the 2 C-Channels together, then plates, gussets and welds everything up into a 3 sided aluminum box. The nose of the trailer is further strengthened by the addition of a custom fabricated steel tongue jack mount. It effectively becomes the 4th side of the box. This appears to be way stronger than the typical tag trailer that normally extends the same rectangular aluminum tubing they use to mount the bow stop to out beyond the end where the 2 pcs of C-Channel meet and bolt a coupler to it. Not only is this stronger but it probably knocks 12-18" off the overall length of the trailer which I consider to be a plus when trailering anything over 35'. |
Pictured here is a Broward Trailer built for a Cigarette.
Notice the spine down the middle of the trailer that connects all the cross members together. Broward refers to it as a Skid Channel and it's standard on their trailers providing additional strength and protection should you encounter a steep ramp angle where your trailer bottoms out. I think most of us have been there, it doesn't take much contact w/ the ground to bend a cross-member or tear the welds especially when when pulling out of a ramp your not familiar with w/ the weight of the boat on the trailer. I don't know of any other trailer w/ this feature. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...c8433db301.jpg I don't know of any other trailer w/ this feature. |
Major progress since yesterday!
Note the use of a laser to ensure the accuracy of the cross member and bunk support alignment while maintaining dead center. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...bb1a87fb94.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...56909f0f3b.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...fb62d380ba.jpg |
Maiden Voyage
Took delivery this past Friday, made a lunch run to Marco Island and back.
Boat ran strong but most noticeable was the ride quality of the larger 390. Nor-Tech saw 78mph during their seatrial, we saw 75mph w/ twice the people & 3x the fuel. Returning to Fort Myers in 2 weeks to tow her home.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...459f4bd2f6.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...7d89d61b4b.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...23dd9fc031.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...e139e60ad5.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...608381a2e9.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...b5022232db.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...818e37c1cf.jpg |

Gentlemen,
I appreciate the VERY kind words, means allot coming from well respected OSO members like yourselves. Quinlan- Touche`, I deserved that. Every time I say "this is it" yet somehow, someway an opportunity presents itself and well. you know the rest. One factor I have to consider is this boat took over 1 yr from the time I put my deposit down on a production slot the dealer already owned. It was approx a 7mos build and nearly 15mos total. |

Beautiful boat NASCAT, I really like the design. Bring that to Jax next month for the River Rally. Any changes/updates coming for the 340, or 390 that you know of? I’m always looking for a reason upgrade, and I think you get the latest info before some of the dealers. |
Looks like we'll finally be putting faces w/ names in JAX as I'm already signed up.
CashBar will suspend your OSO account if you don't commit to the event. :lolhit: I don't think I know more or sooner than the dealers I just stay in touch so I hear about them sooner rather than later. Coast Key Keyless ignition that uses a fob you wear around your neck works just like a set of BMW or Mercedes proximity keys. No actual ignition just have to be within proximity. Also doubles as a safety lanyard. SportBoats is building a spec 340 w/ the new Verado 300's, triples. Not in the loop of anything else at the moment. |

Did you get the coast key? I was considering it for my 390 build. erik |

Nascat, First off, congrats on another beautiful boat! I see that you opted for no walk thru transom. I can/could make my own assumptions as to why.. But I am curious what your reasons were? I had a 30' Concept that did not have the transom pass thru and I wished it did all the time.

John I appreciate the kind words, I'm pretty pleased with they way the finished product turned out. First and foremost I think it depends on ones intended use of the boat. Mine is strictly pleasure cruising, whether that be on the local lake, down the ICW or a trip to the Bahamas. Maybe a poker run on occasion. The NT 340 had 2 walk through's from the transom but you had to be careful when you came off plane or you'd end up w/ a tidal wave that crested the walkthru and spilled water into the cockpit (a sea trial in a Mystic 3800 will flood the cockpit all the way to the helm if not careful). The NT 390 also includes a starboard side dive door standard so if the docking situation works out thats an easy access exit point. I personally wanted the increased seating capacity the new sport club seat offers. The old jet boat seat, only seats 2, 1 person could barely sit sideways in it. IMO way more time will be spent socializing and enjoying the many seating areas this boat has to offer than it will be spent boarding or exiting the boat thus me opting for the club sport seat. The 2 corner rear seat bottoms are removable w/ SeaDek flooring under them. I also added SeaDek to my gunwale tops so I have no issue w/ my boat being boarded that way. In summary I think it's a matter of personal preference and resale. A fisherman isn't going to buy my boat someone who enjoys boating like I do will and I believe that I was better off maximizing all the seating options Nor-Tech offers on a 390 currently thus my adding the forward U shape seating seat backs and the 2nd row helm seating. I made it a point to sit in every seating position during our 50+mph 40 mi trip to Marco Island just to see what my guests experience will be likehttps://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6a26932f1e.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...70daaa0eb5.jpg . |
Nascat, Thanks for your perspective. I can see your angle and agree that someones type of use most certainly has a major impact on the back seat decision. I guess for myself at the time with 2 younger kids. I found us stopped a lot for a swim and they were climbing over the transom all the time. Alas, I did not have a dive door either. Also, we did many raft ups that ended in the same situation, everyone climbing over the transom all afternoon. Also, in which case the dive door would not have helped. There is a third option which I am sure you have seen. Sunsation and likely others offer both a full width seat and a sort of hidden transom door. I cant speak to the coming off plane issue though.
