For the most part I consider the Nor-Tech 340 & 390 Sport CC's well rounded hybrids w/ the ability to suit both fisherman, occasional fisherman or pleasure only boater. Nor-Tech offers a 39 Super Fish for the all out fisherman.

Nascat - I understand you wanting some room to move around and some amenities compared to your cat so why wouldnt you go to a big vee? Far cooler looking and WAY faster, And in black and white everyone is going to think youre a cop! I dont get it.

Pretty sure his "coolness" factor has already been established in his life, and in many eyes it just increased 10 fold with this boat.

I don't know about coolness factor but Pete280 isn't far off. I've been fortunate enough to have owned a 130mph+ cat for 5yrs & I enjoyed some great boating but it was too single purpose, somewhat small & limiting for the speed capability. You can only run 100+ so often for so long where I boat regularly so that gets old quick until you can get to the next poker run event. The CC will allow me to boat anytime of the day or night year round in most conditions. I'm looking forward to BOATING.
Come on sonic sell sell sell lol |

While my last boat was not near as fast as yours, I too went from a cat (30 Motion) to a center console (27 Concept). It used to make me made when people said my cat was "single purpose" or "limited purpose"... now I agree with them. Sure its not as fast, loud or flashy, but is reliable, fun and versatile. And... you're definitely right about extending your boating hours and season - we have had our Concept for a little over 2 years now and I have had more enjoyable boating days (and nights) than ever before. Hopefully we'll be moving up to a larger custom CC in the future. Good luck with your new build - you're in great hands with Nor-Tech.

DirtLawyer- thanks for sharing & reaffirming what so many others have also told me.

Which do you think will occur 1st, JJ's 7th Championship or you actually becoming a boat owner? I think Vegas is going to struggle w/ that one.

Nascat,
Way cool boat , putting together (new to me 377 talon) cat. Should be together by spring time if you need a go fast fix, you just have to come to Wylie. Tried to stay away from the speed thing for a season, but Had to go back. You will love the center console at the coast. Still hard to keep clean. |

Once the Skater sold & I was truly in the boat buyers seat w/o a trade the gravity of the go fast classifieds never let me get very far. I was pretty hot & heavy on a OL but in the end my boating friends & industry professionals helped me stay the course & I'm good w/ my decision to buy the Nor-Tech 340. Congrats on your new acquisition, I think you'll really enjoy the boats ability to achieve triple digit speeds effortlessly in comparison to the Vee. Different type of boating for sure. I will most certainly take you up on a ride next summer. Merry Christmas |
Hi!
Congratulations with your new boat! I have been fortunate to be able to be guest in a couple of Nor-Tech CC. One 29 feet with twin 300 Verados and one 42 feet with inboards. The fit and finish is just of a different league than you normally see and experience in Norway. 12 people in the 30 footer and 18 people in the 42 was no deal. The boats just moved on effortsless, and turned on a dime. Amazing how they tracked. We did some nice turns inshore up here :) And the girls just loves them. The boats have just the amneties they want :) I have a Phantom 25 feet offshore hull. Its like a Jaguar E Type on water. I used to have twin Merc 2,5 EFI SS on it and it ran close to 90 mph. However, the cost per hour was USD 350 per hour plus USD 15K i service annually. We are Norway.... Speed fans shaked their heads in disbelief when I sold the engines and bought a Verado 350 sci. Cost per hour is now USD 70. And service? USD 2,000 inl winter storing. So I lost some speed on top (6 mph) and accelleration, but now I use my boat 6 times more - with 10 times more fun. The engine works! And my wife - she is happy too! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Cheeers, Toffen |
Toffen- sounds like you made the right decision especially if you are getting more use out of the boat, the wife is happy & it costs you less! Almost a No Brainer!
|
Hi!
Although owning the twin set up is not like having a 130 mph cat, it has some similarities. Both cost money, maintaince time, downtime (we tend to forget), cannot idle for long, not that good for party (can be discussed ofcourse!), etc. But you have the thrill of the sound, accelleration and speed. It took me six years to see the letters on the wall when it was only me boating.. Did you ever consider to buy the new Nor-Tech Monte Carlo 36 Flyer? If I had the money! Cheers Toffen |
Toffen,
I wasn't really familiar w/ the MC Flyer until I actually made my first NT factory visit. It captured my attention b/c of the more plush cabin but in an effort not to confuse matters more & stick to my original plan I stayed the course of the 340 Sport. Once I've owned & boated w/ the center console I'll decide whether I really desire something different. Right now I'm pretty excited about my 340 Sport & I think the more maintenance free open cockpit will align better w/ my intended ICW style boating. One thing the MC Flyer lacks is a top or any way to get out of the sun while operating. That was high on my Must Have list. |

Here's a few better shots of the two NT 340 Tenders I saw in the Bahamas.
|
Was the boat there with the two 38 TS TG's as tenders? Illusion was the yacht (older) and the tenders were Illusion 1 and 2
|
No I didn't see Illusion or any Cig's.

Making progress even thru the holidays

Is there an insert that gets added to the longer to give the reclined version we saw at the factory? I thought you had opted for the newer version.
|
Congrats!!! I am sure that you will enjoy having the CC. I find that I use my CC a lot more than my previous performance V. Being able to get out of the sun is really nice for longer days on the water and a lot less maintenance required at days end with the outboards. Craig.

Are you painting the helm/lounge to match the hull sides or boot stripe? I highly recommend that. Really adds to the look of the interior.
Keep the pics coming! |
Boat looks great so far. I was at the factory looking at mine (#57) but there are so many others on the go I couldn't tell which one was yours. Sold my Skater last week, hopefully the Renegade goes before the end of Feb or I'll have more 300 Verados than I know what to do with hahaha!
|
Erik, not to hijack, but did you have any problems with the Renegade or just moving up?

What I did during my last visit was sit on a boat under constructions lounger, have a measurement taken to where the bottom of my foot lays that we identified as being the amount the lounger could be shortened to accommodate the bow bench seating. I believe we shortened it 13" & my heels don't hang over (I'm 5' 10", 32" inseam). I also asked that we maintain a 16-18" walkway between the lounger & bow benches similar to the width of the transom walk thru. This is to be accomplished by cutting the lounger & possibly the bench corners on 45* angles. I felt like the slope that was built into this lounger structure pictured was too aggressive & as I said sacrificed allot of cabin space. In a discussion w/ SportBoats Marine & Nils, Nor-Tech will use contoured foam on the lounger base to create that lumbar support under the knees as opposed to custom building into the F/G itself. I don't think you need much to give one a stronger sense of being set in the seat in comparison to the standard flat lounger Nor-tech has offered to date. I've tried to build and expand upon all the great ideas that others have implemented into their builds but I'm sure I'll leave something on the table that another customer will envision as if it were a no brainer, at which point I'll feel like an IDIOT for not realizing myself.:angry-smiley-044: Hope I answered your question & this helps you better understand the path we are taking w/ my particular build. |

Keep the pics coming! The actual color is called Brilliant Black Metallic is the color we paint Jimmie Johnson's Kobalt #48 race car with. The dash top gets a matte non-glare clear coat over it & the actual tubular Hard Top structure is powde rcoated satin black (shinier than a matte or flat finish but not glossy) |
Make sure you have grab handles otherr than the T-Top. Painted pipework gets scratched and chipped for people with jewelery holding on.

I might have to modify my "No Shoes Please" decal to read "No Shoes or Jewelry per the Captain" |
The entire cock pit was painted in my hustler...you didn't get on that boat with jewelry.

ManLaw!

Congrats on the new ride. Glad to see you will be doing some real boating Ha. Bahamas here we come!!

No problems with the renegade, it's a great boat and I love it. Just want an open bow boat that still retains a cabin for the kids. My good friend is the Canadian dealer and he treated me really well on the NT as well.
