One big difference you guys are neglecting is fuel economy cruise speeds. I have a 357 with 420s and I routinely go boating with an OSO member who has a 382 with 500EFIs. Sure he has a little more power, and top speed is about 10-12 mph faster than my 60mph top.... but he's able to cruise at around 3200 RPM when I'm at 4000 for a 40 something mph cruise. To me that would make 45mph a lazy cruise instead of having the secondaries starting to open. The boats are obviously not drastically different, but the 382 hull is obviously a little faster in smooth water.

I'm guessing your 357 is spinning 3 blade vs the fastech spinning 4 blades, plus an older 420 set up usually involves a transmission vs a non trans Bravo set up. Although the steps are small, they must give a little advantage over a flat bottom. Too bad Formula never changes anything to keep up with the times and technology with their hulls. Imagine a larger step like Fountain or Cigarette. A 700/NXT 39 Top Gun runs 100-103 stock vs a 382 with 700/NXT in mid 90s with the same 18 year old hull on the 382!!!

a 357 with 3's and 650 hp...... 83??? NO WAY..... not a true reading unless engines are really 700+ at best.....
|
Lots of variables in there beside claimed hp: x dimension, props and set up, has the bottom been blueprinted/tweaked, weight (as noted earlier), etc. Plus these are production boats and every one is going to be a little different.

I get that I would love to see more info on that build.... That's awful fast for 357 and 650 hp

Kevin never got it over 82, maybe he had other issues. But your cig is 5 mph faster with 150 less hp

Re propping to gain 600 rpm doesn't mean it would gain equal mph as if you just gained 600rpm with the same props. Maybe I'm just a hater. Not a fan of those hulls one bit.

Im with you on the 382 hull, Not a huge fan either. The engines made peak power at 5500 RPM. so I figured it would go faster with more RPM.
