Not to take away from this thread as this Checkmate person and history is awesome !

To answer above post, I know Nordic has a 21ft that some waterski racers use that have Merc 1350's installed.

So not impossible at all,but large cahonies definitely required as well as optimum conditions.

But you need 1350 HP and a Six Drive to pull a skier. Jeez, I'd need a 46" dress shirt sleeve after one pull by that bad boy!

It's incredible either way.... that speed in that boat... what a freakn ride !!!! Years ago PowerBoat Magazine did a article on a single engine 28 Howard Bullet with 1200 HP and it ran 130 something. On the SeaRay fourm there is a Fast 22's thread but nothing near those speeds....

hay is this the motor mike rebuilt in Michigan I dynoed a motor just like that one at my shop

There's a guy on here that had a twin turboed LS motor in a Checkmate that ran up there pretty good. I think he was over 1500hp in front of a wet sump #6. Screen name Checkmate ???.

Redcheckmate ? I think is his name. I believe ywin turbo BBC.

He now has that 40ft Checkmate I believe.

Yeh, he's still around here.
