A new NT 390 CC hits 97 mph
|
Not a real offshore boat.
only homos own them. One day the owner will wish they got a real go fast. |
Nearing 100 is fast in any type of boat. The ultimate determining factor may be the wind buffeting in the CC models. 70 is no picnic. I'm sure 97 feels pretty rough. Hope they develop some deflectors etc as these models evolve.
|
I don't believe that particular boat has a hard top. While this doesn't make it immune to all the other safety concerns present at those speeds for any boat at least It doesn't have additional lift created by the hardtop.
|
no hard top makes a huge difference, I am going to be in south beach tomorrow or wednesday and will see if I can get a look at it. Must be a triple Seven boat with no t-top that should do it.

Has to be quad 400's with sportmasters.
I believe 4 mercs will outrun 3 seven's. |

Don`t be a hater just because a fishing boat can kick your sonics ass!!!
You guys clearly missed the thread. See Summer O's post for reference |
That's incredible. Congrats Nortech on some impressive speeds.
Growing up in La., I've been fishing since I could walk. It's been a little while since I've been fishing but I don't recall the fish being that fast. They must be after stepped bottom fish.....or cat-fish. lol They can call it Catfish Killer. |

Michael,

What does it run with 300's?
|
I have seen some fast fishing boats with a hardtop angled to offset the running angle and make less of a wing to lift the boat.

How much speed do you think 10 fishing poles, 2 x 74 quart coleman coolers, 4 tubes of sunscreen, and 4 smiling grey hair guys will scrub for speed ?
|
Sunsations CCX hardtops are vented
|
So now the race is on to be the 1st triple digit CC!!

Kinda cheating without a hard top. |
Bill63 is like 7/8s Nor tech CC knowledge Terry Sobo. If thats what he says I'm believing it.
|
With some slight mods to balance it out , a 410 Sprint Car wing might do the trick.......
|
Way cool!!

How about a trimmable t-top with some chord built into it for lift??? Use it like a canard, now we're thinking haha

Aerodynamics

I am convinced that aerodynamics will play a much larger roll in the coming years as the speeds increase.I have been experimenting with trimmable carbon fibre wings on one of our boats in the UK with great results and also a vertical stabiliser fin for our Outerlimits here in the US both designs could be integrated into the overall design once size and shape are optimised.

Congrats to Nor-Tech. Sounds like they will have one heck of a display in Miami.
I remember 7-8 years ago, Fountain had the fastest CC at the NY Poker Run and it had no T-top either. Believe that ran 87mph. Big Jump! |
Here comes the era of riced out go fast cigar boats.

I've heard about this boat but can't wait to see pics of it. Didn't believe the estimated top speed but the proof is in the piture! Congrats to all involved. |
