Im debating on spending 1800.00 on a aluminum swim platform in 4 days and I just cant make up my mind and I know 1800 is not alot of money to most on this forum, but for me its a nice chunk of change. Boat is a 89 Powerplay Integra open bow... just put a new 383 490hp motor in it last year along with a alpha SS, best shes done is 74mph. Ive put alot of work into this boat over the years(stringers, floor, livorsi, etc.) and would have gone bigger before hand but I just bought a lakefront home on a 700 acre lake. We hang at the the back of the boat most of time at the sandbar or just sitting/swimming in the middle of the lake.

Guess my question is... will getting this platform going to be a wise choice? I understand putting money into a boat and not expecting to get it back and such... But will this help re-sale value when I do sell it in say 2-3 years? Has anybody added a platform like this to your boat and if so, was it worth it? As of now its a real pain in the ass getting in and out of the boat for everyone including me... the extra real estate on the boat would be nice I think.

Any opinions would be great... good or bad.

I doubt it will add much if any resale so it boils down to if the cost is worth it to you personally for your own use and enjoyment. This is pretty much true for any upgrade on an older boat unfortunately.

I had a boat with just the small side platforms and now one with a full platform. The full platform is worth it IMO, wish I had spent the coin for it on the old boat. But then, I kpet that boat 20 years

I do not think it will add any value to the boat,,might sell faster but not for any more money,
you may want to leave it as is, you have the two section platform now if you replace it with a one piece you will have to install it higher in order to clear your exhaust tips which might make it harder to board the boat.

but if you like it,go for it.

I had them on a few bajas and always enjoyed them. Good place to let things dry out, drip off, etc.
Also makes a boat easier to get into if your swimming, or coving out.

If its not going to make you faster or get you more skanks, leave it alone.

Seriously, what's your gut say? If you really like it, don't look at it as $1800, just look at it as $600/season for 3 years! (Rationalization is the gift/curse of the boater's psyche).

If u feel it will make the rest of your time with this boat better or easier in any way then I would say money well spent. All you have to be worried about is being happy with what you got and your good.

Give glassdave a ring.. I think he might have an amish swim platform builder cheaper than what you were quoted.
