Jupiter---- Your answer is exactly what I expected from you..

There are a whole bunch of guys out there with Bravo's that would benefit from such a gear set...

Was still employed when he owned the F-4. I remember running 86 MPH at LOTO in it. We ran hard enough to break the driveshaft cover after the Shootout.

And let's not be ridiculous with your answers about the cost.
What about the vertical shafts that like to snap like twigs? And what to do about popping the top cap off the case when the drive walks those new gears up thru the roof? Or splitting the case at the top? Or the busted/twisted prop shafts? Then there are the Bravo props that throw blades like Frisbees! It never ends...

Soooooo how much are the gears projected to cost? I remember a few people on here looking into having gears made maybe you? Anyway as far as price lets face it the Merc XR gears are way overpriced. But lets take a look at BMAX upper gears (I had a pair of those as well) they are in the 5k range if I remember correctly. JMO but also way overpriced. Haven't even looked at SCX gear prices. Me personally though I look forward to anyone with advancements or improvements and applaud and maybe even support them! Let us know what you have in mind.

Which Arneson's or six's are on edge with 800 HP?

He is referring to an old asd6 arneson drive, which would not last with 800hp either. However Rik sells upgraded gear sets for the older asd6 that can handle much more power than the original design. That old asd 6 was designed in the 80s when 440hp was impressive

Can you imagine buying a new Ford Superduty and bragging to your buddies that you got a full season out of the rear end????? Absurd.
I am not defending the drive, but a lot of theses failures at the hands of stock power are in boats rigged full stagger, with short lowers. Running these drives dangerously close to the surface to obtain an impressive high speed number. They are throwing blades because the prop is surfacing over any wake or ripple in the water. The fix, install 5,6 or 7 blade props on these relatively tiny XR drives! Lower the slip even more

If someone told you 25 years ago they would be running triple digits in a 35ft +\- pleasure boat with 525hp a side you would have told them they were crazy.

Someone mentioned bragging about an f350 rear end lasting a year and how it sounds absurd. Drive that truck and have something lift the rear end while you are driving at 4000 and drop it back down the the pavement before you have a chance to let off...constantly, and see how long the driveline lasts

Yup, tire shudder/shake (loading and unloading from the pavement) brakes things fast in a drag car. Not just driveline, but mostly.

The truck will never see such scenario yet lets compare the size of the gears in my 3500 vs. a bravo

hmmmm.. one of these is designed to last a lifetime one is not
