I love the boat, almost bought one several years ago (hard top). As for drives, a fellow in our club has one (soft top, B3, gas - not sure which but they are stock) and replaced at least one drive per year while under warranty, now one about every other year (he decided the hole shot was not worth the expense). It's a lot of boat to move with an outrdive, but much of that pepends more on the driver than the drive. You should also consider aftermarket props - the cavatation destroyed his but there is an aftermarket maker out there that supposedly solved the problem. If I were to buy one, it would definitely be diesel, but that's me.

i will have to check on the props and cavatation problem, first i heard of that. i didn't know they had diesels in some of them, would that be the newer ones?

Since you're keeping the gun.
If you don't need to go far and fast on it I would look for something wider and comfier with Vdrives.
