Guess the horsepower
Ok......we are going to have a little contest to see who can guess the horsepower that my (3) new Bob Madera spec'd boat motors make when they go on the dyno. Closest without going over will win something, just not sure what. Here are the details of what they are:
548 ci AFR 325 aluminum heads, CNC ported, hand matched to intakes Bob Madera/Marine Kinetics roller cams (specs proprietary) Dart dominator intakes ProSystems 1150 Dominator carburetors Callies Compstar crankshafts Diamond pistons Scorpion roller rockers w/stud girdles MSD billet distributors MSD 6al boxes Dry exhaust to the tips to prevent reversion due to the cam 91 octane pump gas 5800 rpm's |
696 HP with 682 TQ at 4700 RPM's on a properly calibrated DTS dyno (if your going on a 901 it depends on the "wish" dial setting).
716 hp@6000 and 696tq@4600
750hp
edit thats dual dominators? I am in for 850 I read it again, single dominator carb on 3 motors LOL, so back to my original 750hp |
What did you think of the Compstar crank? Their rods looked nice.
Compression ratio?
712 HP |
My boat is a 91 non stepped 42 Fountain with triples. It ran low to mid 80's on the old hp500's with around 560 tired horsepower apiece at 5000-5100.
Callies Compstar stuff looks nice, the AFR heads are beautiful.

Without knowing the cam specs and comp, the output could be anywhere on the map... but given the lack of info, I'm going to guess 682 hp.
Single dominators and between 9.5 - 10.0 if my alcohol riddled memory serves me.
I will say the builds are nearly the same as the ones I just did, with bigger carbs....I know what cam specs are probably close to...hence my guess...
When is dyno day? I didn't get to dyno mine... I will be water dyno this weekend... Haha |
Probably a week or so away. Carbs are being built right now and just waiting on some small parts from Summit (intakes, oil pumps, ARP bolts, etc.) All 3 short blocks are assembled so its not too far away.
Rollmaster timing chains? Dart blocks?
Sounds similar to mine except I have 335 heads. 720-730 hp.
Rollmaster timing chains/gears and original hp500 blocks with decks trued.

Are you. Expecting all three to be identical......? Maybe an average across the three. Maybe the lowest, err highest?
I'll refrain from guessing because I doubt you would send my prize overseas! Can I suggest the prize instead? lol Interesting thread, good luck guys. RR |
699.99999 when dialed in. That .000001 will kill you. LOL.
Real guess. 687 on a good dyno. And if carbs are right on. |
without cam specs and compression ratio it is just a guessing game i,m not a good guesser so i will just wait for the dyno results.
711....they made a lot of them
668 hp

712

Who's doing the dyno tuning, and on which dyno? DTS, superflow, Stuska, etc.
That combo should be in the 700+HP range. Too many variables to put a hard number on it. The combo looks good. Glad to see you didnt go with a dual plane intake and 750 carb! |
