Our 3rd annual Veterans Run will be coming up this fall. It has been growing a little each year. Nice event.

TX challenge last year.
Jumped in the Boat (50 turbine cat) with Nick and Chris (owner of invitation only) and we did the shootout. We ran the fastest pass for them that day of 176mph. After that the coolest part to me was coming around the corner and turn doing damn 185-190mph and the boat just handled like it was on rails.
We did a lot of running around on that boat that weekend but doing the shootout at that speed was incredible.

We ran mid 170's as well that day...I might be off by a mph and it is 174mph ish. I have tried to look but there is no posted official results of each boat that I have seen .
I will see Nick tonight and will ask him again I guess.
EDIT found it and yes...I was wrong 166 mph....still the coolest thing I have ever done in a boat.

For the 50th Anniversary of D-Day I hit Virginia Beach in a military landing craft as a WW2 reenactor. For the 55th Anniversary I hit the beaches of Normandy in France in a DUKW to commemorate the historic event. Both events were simply amazing.

I typed mine, not in detail, but didn't post. But it was the coolest thing I have ever done in a boat....or in anything by that matter. Oh, to be young again. LOL.

Coolest and the maybe the stupidest (although still cool).
Coolest. As president of Rpchester Offshore Powerboat Association I used to organize an event every year with a local children's center/shelter and we'd take them for rides. One kid actually joined the Coast Guard after this! Damn insurance issues unfortunately put an end to it.
Stupidest- With a 22' Chaparral Villain and my buddy's 21' Liberator we crossed Lake Ontario From Rochester, NY to Toronto one Labor Day. 2 1/2 hours there on smooth water. With a good forecast we returned home that eve. However when we got to the middle of the lake the wind shifted suddenly out of the east and the waves buit up the entire lake to where we were. There were 4-7 footers and the only way the 2 of us knew we were still running together is we would see the other boat jump out of the waves and then disappear again. 4 1/2 hours back.
The stupider thing was we did it agin the next year and the forecast was even better. Smooth up but once again, in the middle of the lake it turned east winds again even worse. 5-8 footers. This time we hit the US shore and stopped in a couple ports t take a break so this return was 6 hours and we had to finish in the dark.
