Salt water help

I've been boating in salt water for 40 years and yes, it's harder on a boat without question. Good maintenance can go a long way but things do have to get replaced once in a while. The newer closed cooling systems are really nice for this environment. However I wouldn't trade my salt water boating environment for any other in the world, I don't give a frick what I have to replace.

It's always a sensitive subject bc every salt owner thinks their boat is the exception, that's natural... but salt is a corrosive thing, there isn't any getting away from it. Freeze/thaw shouldn't be an issue with proper maintenance and granted you don't have a wet transom (then you have bigger issues to worry about).
Bottom line is that you have a much better chance at finding a solid boat that has avoided the salt.
