Hope that helps...
Has that owners manual completely fallen apart yet? I was pretty sure it said 91, 87 in a pinch. I didn't buy that premium just because I liked the price better.

I wonder why Merc changed the requirement? I mean, I know from running these motors they don't build al lot of boost and you really have to get into the upper RPM range before the boost gauge would move but I would be nervous running 87 octane in any blower motor.

87 in a pinch to me means my choice is either buy 87 or run out of fuel before I get home. Then first chance I get fill with 93. The 300s say they will accept 87, right along saying use 92 for best performance. I wouldn't run either with 87, especially if all you can get is 10% ethanol.

I built 600sc clones and turned the boost up for the stock 4-5psi to 10-11psi and can still put a little 87 in it if I think I need some and can't find 93. Don't think I'd run it empty and fill it with 87 but at 200hp less I would think it shouldn't require that high of octane. I don't run it super hard if I do put lower octane in it though

10-11 psi and you mix in 87 on a heavy V bottom on a river ? Are you running 5.0:1 compression?
My BS meter is going off on you two fellas

7.6:1 doesn't start building boost til close to 4k. Like I said I won't run it very hard if I have lower octane in it
