what do you mean by in a pinch? once in a while? mixed with 91?

My 2006 388 has them, I have 130 hours on my 600/XR's, no problems so far, my 600 SCi's require 91 octane, ( I run 91 non-ethanol in them) Great engines, start every time, idle great, provide great power.

I would agree that if you could find the 90 or 91 non-corn infused gas, that'd be the best route.

Merc revised the 91 octane requirement and now says they are safe on 87 octane.

Great motor you can run 87 if its stock, not a problem with mine in 5 years, upped it to the whipple stage 2 kit now need 91 , did blow the xr when i did the upgrade , well worth it .

No I have a cigarette Tiger with 260 hours on it and have broken 1 from hitting something in the water!

Great motors. Love the whine! Can turn up to 700's.

Edit: I would double check the manual for whatever year motors they are. Merc may have changed fuel requirements over the years. I can't remember what we used to put in the F-4. Let me double check with the owner. For some reason I thought we ran more than 87 octane.
But they shucked a drive soon after the trade! Timing is everything...
