What's up with MGR? So far this hasn't been an SBI season to remember. Ran poorly in Cocoa Beach, didn't run Marathon, and now no-show Michigan City when Geico is the presenting sponsor.

klaatutooyou 07-23-2015 07:47 AM

Looks like they have a previous commitment to do tampa boat show .
Being co - governed by a sponsor can cause conflict .They have to promote geico at boat shows as well as races .

Hope we see them in Clearwater.

Mich City is always a great site, the fans are awesome and the city puts out the red carpet can't wait.

Best of luck to all the racers, we are headed there on Sat. staying in Porter and will be there through Sunday

Xtremeracing 07-29-2015 11:43 AM

Few more boat called and coming, should be good racing in all the classes.

Does anyone have a good site for weather/wave height, wind????

I really want to go but with a 23' boat and not a lot of experience don't want to get in over my head - no pun intended.

Thanks in advance

Its pretty simple, we ran Cocoa Beach, the boat immediatly left for Long Island Air show, then Seaside, Atlantic City and got home a week before Marathon. We beat her up pretty good and never really had a chance to do maintanance. These were all rough water venues with the exception of Seaside so we never really ran her up over 150 mph. After testing at high speeds(for extended periods of time) for the first time this year We found a issue with Inlet Air temp in Marathon and could not solve in time to start race. We now have a solution but its a redesign of some of our air intake and cooling system. The work is not complete yet. We will be ready for The AC air show and the rest of the season

The one below seems to work well.

Just learned that Stihl will not be racing. Just got off the phone with Mark the throttle man. He will be with me this weekend at Skaterfest.

I guess they couldnt get the damage repaired it time from Marathon.

less airshows/exhibitions, more racing, guys. the offshore public is "seeing" CMS dominating UL class in 2105....not a good thing for MGRT fans.

Thanks for clarifying. I was under the impression it also was related to the high air and surface water temps in Marathon, and figured those wouldn't be a factor up North in our iceberg laden waters ;)

Here is another one I always use. Just pick the area you want. New Buffalo has a great ramp up the river and good parking. Little bit of an idle to the lake but a nice ride to MC. Just looked for fri & sat. Going to be bumpy.

that sequence tells a little different story....

obrien 08-03-2015 10:45 AM

this was my first year attending the Michigan city race. I have to say it is hands down the best all around event. The town does a great job promoting the event. The fans are awesome, very friendly, and really come out to support the entire event. Its a shame more of the cities that host races are not as involved or excited as Michigan city

Ryan, what is your opinion on that incident?

foxbat 08-03-2015 08:40 PM

does not look like talbot "hit" SM as has been mentioned on social media.

.

Talbot race boat is now at Grants Signature Racing.

Everyone working hard to get this race boat back in action.

Powerhead is off, pan is off, lowers are off. I guess inspecting every part of the machinery and hull for a quick return to the circuit. Not sure when though. The next SBI race is on Sept 25-27 at Clearwater.

Xtremeracing 08-09-2015 06:38 AM

Best of luck to both teams hopefully the damage was not that bad to either boat and they will be ready to do battle again in Clearwater. They had an amazing race going on.

It was. I launched in New Buffalo Friday night around 6pm. Loaded up all our gear in the boat, the Mrs packed like we were gonna be living on the boat for a month, let alone a weekend. Ran from New Buffalo to Michigan city, and it was rough! The wind was howling out the northeast pretty good. When I was launching, a guy came in with a center console, the fact he was soaked head to toe, might have been a good clue as to what was in store for our ride. lol, but it was good times.

Tell me about it. Checking that beast out was better than Viagra. They should have put a sign on it that says "warning, erection may last longer than 4 hours"

Yeah, I couldn't stop looking and taking pictures. The people at the Harley stand must have thought I was nuts. I walked the dock sat before the parade. Saw your fountain docked. Looked good. By chance were you running back and forth Sat afternoon? I swear it was yours it sounded good and LOUD....

Yes , i ran around saturday afternoon a little. I had mom and dad on the boat so had to take it easy. Those dry stellings sing a nice tune!

Wish i knew you were around , you coulda hopped on for a ride

J-Bonz 08-10-2015 08:16 AM

So that was you. I sounded great! A ride would have been awesome but tough to pull off. The whole family was in town, parents, sister & husband, wife, kid and baby.... Nevertheless I really appreciate the offer...

We were there on Saturday also. We saw you out for a little run...your boat has some serious style and a sweet sound! We floated through the marina and saw you stern in next to IC, you had to scare the bejeezus out of the people behind you when you fired those beauties up! LOL
