Galveston Bay, San Jacinto River estuary, Intracoastal Waterway, Gulf of Mexico close to Galveston sometimes when the swells are just right. Spent years offshore and I am just fine being able to see land at all times now.

If I lived where there were interesting destinations offshore within an hour or two I would surely be an Offshore boater with a bigger boat. Maybe when I retire to the Caribbean

Loaded question! I've boated all over:

Pacific Ocean
Atlantic Ocean
Chesapeake Bay
Gulf of Mexico
LOTO
Lake Havasu
Great Lakes

Take a guess where the absolute worst & biggest water I've encountered out of that list.
Hint: Even Reggie Fountain said this is the worst place he's seen for rough water (in racing context).

Gulf Coast in Clearwater/St.Pete here.

I don't think I have ever boated on a lake but maybe once (ozarks on a pontoon)

Yes, Lake Michigan...
...on the Chicago Poker Run a few years back to be specific.

Paraphrasing Reggie's description:
'It's like trying to drive your boat around inside of you washing machine.'

Salt and Shark Free! Now if we can just keep the fountain skanks out of the water.
