As an FYI one thing I would like to explore more about the simrad units is mine has built in wireless connectivity and can be controlled on a tablet thru an app. I also think it can be connected to multiple tablets at once. Not sure tho but I think it would be cool to use a tablet mounted to the back seat for passengers to see everything I see. Or maybe my co pilot. But this all comes back to what tablets can you see in the sun.............

with late 90's mercruisers, could you use the plug for the scan tool and maybe readout fuel used?

Your talking about early MEFI units? If so it's possible, but with a different device. That's known as serial data, this device does analog like voltage and resistance values.

Nice job drpete3. The Simrad and Raymarine units both have built in WiFi connection now. I can see it being handy on a bigger boat where you want to monitor engine or chart data on a tablet in the galley. But in direct sunlight, ya need something like a Simrad monitor to see anything... Does their app offer any data logging options?

As I recall from reading the manual it does. Here is the deal tho, it does so much I have only used the map and instrument display. I have yet to connect either my phone or my iPad to the display

Correct me if I'm wrong here Drpete, but if you have an EFI motor (or smartcraft) you could use one of these Livorsi Data Gateways to convert the ECM data to NMEA 2000. Then you should be able to display anything your ECM monitors (boost, IAT, fuel px, etc). Does the Go7 give you the options to display any of these parameters?
