It is amazing how well todays cars can handle such impacts. Crumple zones, airbags, restraints are all a part of it. More metal around you does not beat the technology. It appears that this technology worked out as well as possible for each of you. Here is an eye opener:

I've seen that video before and it is amazing. I've posted these pics before on this site but it is an undeniable testament to how technology over sheer size saves lives. 85 MPH into a utility pole and a stone fence post. My then 16 year old son escaped with bumps, bruises, scrapes, minor concussion, and 11 staples in his head.

very true and I hate to say it but in a weird way I have a bit relief when I see a heavily damaged vehicle because I know it is spent energy. The truck did it job and protected the occupants.

Like I said, you can always get a new truck, new limbs or a new life are much harder to come by. I don't think most people know how much better cars are in crashes now compared to 15-20 years ago.

I still have a hard time with the pics. I would have never dreamed your truck would be that damaged and you walk away with a tiny car that weighs 1/5 what you truck weighs hitting you. Glad you are OK. Hope the lady is getting better. I can see my 2012 3500 Dually long bed from my desk sitting outside now and it is hard to imagine it that bad CRUNCHED. WOW just WOW.

Yeah it's amazing. However it's in the design to crumple around cabin and minimize injury and damage. Thankfully.

Been around my share of accidents years ago. My guess based on one picture is that the car went under the RF of his truck sending it(truck) into a barrel roll. It would have been very unlikely the car's driver could have survived any other way.
