Tell me about it.

Towed my first jet boat all over texas with a restored 69 cougar xr7 with a custom class3 hitch. Wouldnt of changed a thing. Back in the day when the f350s broke down (that was alot) the single cab 305 powered c10 got stuck pulling pulling the 990 bobcat and trailer. With the bumper ball.
kids today are spoiled . My buddys kid picked up a white single cab 8 lug 4wheel disc 6.0 chev off craigslist for 2800. Clean texas no rust. Thats what i paid for the cougar over 20 yrs ago. But it did haul 4 peps in comfort .and looked good towing that jet boat. Im a bang for the buck guy that works on own stuff and am intimatly familiar with the statistics on the 7.3 and 6.0, so i would take a look at the 496 powered suburbans. Cheap here your worst fear will be slapping a black box tranny in it if you flog it, you will give up some stoplight towing launch swag and mpg but they are quiet and easy to fix if something goes wrong..and not a bad cruiser in non tow mode. You can go drag race a few excursions non towing and get your mojo back. Its fun .trust me

We have one of those in the f350 2wd flavor. And a e250 that has spit the crankshaft out of the 5.4s guts. For a van its heavy duty. If only the lightning engine would fit. Or would it ?

Yup!! Had a 6.0 before the 7.3. Flat out junk. Even when you fix them, you just swap out failed parts for new parts that will soon fail. Mine was "bulletproofed" too.
