I had the trifecta of noise......new Escalade with the 6.2 across the street, Roush Raptor 2 doors down (guy is an on call Dr. so it can fire up at anytime) and a kid down the street just got a Ram with flowmasters. The Escalade got traded for a Prius.......so silence there. Ram kid will be going to college in a few months and I think the Dr. will eventually want something less than a Raptor for daily driving.

----I love old 3/4 ton Suburbans for towing. The one I have now, which I hope will be my last is a 93 2wd with just 40,000 on the clock. One of my boats is a relatively heavy 11,000lbs and the original 454 was a bit deficient so I dropped in a Crockett built 510 with 650lb/ft of torque. Tows fantastic. Paid $5000 for the Subby 4 years ago.......Bill S

I think that's a good option.
I know nothing about trucks in the U.S. except to say I'm sure they cost you money and always will, especially as they get older.
Sounds like you don't do a lot of boating but if you enjoy boats, don't get out of it, try to make it more enjoyable. I've now started on the downsize cycle of boat ownership and will probably continue to downsize at every change. There's lots of fun to be had in smaller boats, they're easier to maintain, cheaper to run and can be towed with smaller trucks/cars.
I say go a touch smaller for tow purposes and revive the passion that's starting to fade. Eliminate the costly headaches and enjoy boating again.

The 6.0 key is deleting the egr valve, when the valves go and its frequently, dealers/mechanics start replacing oil coolers to the turbo. Some shops recommend a bullet proof service but all you need is to disconnect the egr.
My neighbors kid is king of noise, him and his friends all have diesel Dodges and a dirt track in the front of their house. The kids (large group) are either driving their trucks around the track or their 2 stroke dirt bikes.
