I am a x open class superbike racer and almost won a championship. 2nd by a few points. It's not all about winning. It's about respect from your piers and enjoying the trills and fellowship of racing. My fountain was world champ in 1999. So it deserves the badge. And it is on the deck as a respectful memento... I am going to ghost in the F2 15 racing number in pearl some day.

There is no money in racing. If the company owner/Dealer Owner is racing the company races (EGO's). Reggie and Don raced their own boats. Later Halter raced Cigarettes along with Craig Barrie and Philly and Dick Simon. When they got out of racing the company stopped racing. Most people have no clue what it costs to prepare and campaign an offshore boat. When Skip bought Cigarette his focus was Poker Running which some would say is a good idea and good marketing, I agree. Not to many actual pro classes out there for big "V"'s anymore. None of the "V" Extreme boats are factory built out of the mold boats

Just some info from the back of Sea Race which only covers from 1956- 1987. Cigarette had a total of 192 wins. The next closest boat was Cougar with 96 wins. Formula had 29 wins and Scarab had 46. In the years Cig was really big into racing which looks like 71-78 if you added up all the other manafacturer total wins together they'd barely equal Cigarette.
