I must be using an alternative internet and going to different races. I have talked to precious and mongo many many times over the years and have read their posts here and elsewhere. They are one of the most PC , never speak bad about anyone else teams to ever exist. True they have gone to great extremes to promote themselves and get exposure wherever possible, but If i was the gieco corporate and spending a lot of money sponsoring a team, I would expect them to make gieco as visible in a positive light as possible. There arent a lot of offshore teams out there that are straight up making their living racing, gieco does and self promotion is key.

I give a lot of credit to Geico to have the balls to get out there and start their engine program...... Definitely not something that happens overnight. It's guys like them that push the limits that allow this technology to trickle down to the end user market.

A few things worth keeping in mind:
1. The Miss GEICO team is made up of five partners, all of whom are big boys who know that if they put themselves out there for public consumption they are fair game for public praise and criticism. They can take it.
2. They make decisions as a team, so whatever happened with their engine program this year was a team decision. Succeed or fail, and at least in the short term (this season) their program appeared to fail, they bear responsibility for it as a team.
3. They'll be back next year.
Fans will attack. Fans will praise. Any team that doesn't have the stomach for that shouldn't be in racing. I have spoken to almost every partner in the Miss GEICO camp, and to a man they have all described this season as a failure, have praised the efforts of CMS and vow to be back strong in 2016. (I hope to have an more in-depth story on Miss GEICO's 2015 season in the near future.)

I don’t think anyone really “hates” on the Geico team, and I agree, they are quite approachable and fan-centric guys. Matter of fact, as witnessed in Key West, even as they went through motors and pulled off course, the fans were still making a lot of noise to cheer these guys on. But with great power (or popularity) comes great responsibility, and in my estimation, the information vacuum (what went wrong) from the Geico camp has been a source of frustration for many of those fans, myself included. I have seen other teams routinely do same-day post-mortem publications on social media of what didn’t work went wrong/broke etc, and fans appreciate this type of feedback. I really haven’t seem much in this regard from Geico (itself).
