I heard all 1075 fountains run 140

I really enjoy these types of threads....civil discussion that has not swayed into a brand loyalty debacle.....it is no question that the cats have the advantage when it comes to speed, but when you hear numbers like Billy Boats has posted with not outrageous power (in todays standards) the gap may not be as wide as one might assume.....I am true believer that who is behind the wheel and the sticks can play as big as roll as anything....I will give you an example.....several years ago we were at a poker run in Jacksonville Florida...I had a new 42 fountain with 700's and stage 2 whipples...I think we were making around 800 hp a side....at the run were a couple of 1075 vee bottoms and the Cigarette that was built to break kilo record.....the cig had big blower motors that the owner told me made over 1100HP......needless to say I was way over matched except that I had Brian Forehand (Driver of the kilo record OL) at the helm.....conditions were fairly calm so basically all you had to deal with was side wake from the Cats and there were a lot of really fast cats there....back in those days getting to the bridge first was big deal....there is no question the other vees were faster but as soon as they started having to drive through all the boat wake they all slowed down....Brian never let up and we were easily the first vee to the bridge....so even though I did not have the fastest vee out I had a fast vee with a great driver that made it the fastest vee out there..... that day anyway

Speaking of BF, here is one of my all-time favorite clips - him splitting the middle between a cig and your boat at the LC Poker run in 2011.

When did that boat run 160 ???? Honestly I don't know if it ever did and can't remember the actual top speed. Pretty sure it did more than 151mph since that was a gas pump tune and was having water pressure issues which later got fixed. its been awhile I my memory isn't what it used to be. Actually I just asked Dustin and the fasted it went was 154mph and had more in it. I believe if someone wanted to they could get that boat over 160mph. MP |
