In that video I'm running 110 mph waiting for the OL . I let him start to pass me before laid into it. Went from 110-143 in 8 seconds with 4 big guys in the boat and Full tanks of fuel . GPS was climbing 3 mph at a time. I put new props on the boat that morning without ever testing them. It turns out the props were still too small. The great thing about my boat is that unlike many fast V bottoms that are capable of running a big number when set up for a speed run, mine will run fast for a LONG haul everyday ,comfortably , and on 92 octane pump fuel. I cruised from Miami to Gilbert's during this years KW poker run at 120-125. I was the 3rd boat there pulling up at the same time as 2 bad ass cats. Since then I have gotten bigger props and Eddie Young is putting in a tune with more boost to run with higher octane fuel when I want to splash some fuel :)
Then we converted it to a canopy boat, and ultimately beat the Cat Killer in KW ( 2009) ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMhZmPFnv-c ).(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Px0YyIRGE8 ) Then it drifted to Trinidad, where it still competes ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nFvAnW6QLU ) But honestly that SV43 of Dustins, is an amazing piece of art, with incredible speeds. Thanks, I have a lot of time and effort into that boat. I do everything myself. I'm very lucky to have close friends that are legends in performance boating that I can get advice and help from. Joe Sgro, Billy Betz, Joe Cibellis, Jeff Cropper, Richie Zul, Skip (MRD) and a few others are the reason my boat runs as fast as it does. Now it's Eddie Young's turn , he has my engine on his dyno now fine tuning the program and seeing what kind of power we can squeeze out of it on race fuel. I'm not really planning on running it on fuel other than Loto this year. :)
The boat in its current set up is more than I ever need for a poker run ,fun run, or cruising around. It jumps up on plane ,accelerates hard, shifts at the dock with out stalling, rides stable in any condition at any speed and has a killer stereo lol I'm sure I could get a few more MPH out of it by raising drive 1" , cutting more ventalation into the bilge removing 200 lbs of stereo equipment , raise water pick up to bare minimum , thin props, Wilson lowers......., but then it's not a pleasure boat. What's Cropper been up to? Is he still building engines? Why the switch from him to Zul to Young?
I choose to use Eddie Young to re calabrate my ecm because there are only a hand full of guys out there that truely have a full understanding of the system. We have had many talks in the past about the proper way to dyno tune a marine engine by using the load of the dyno to simulate running in the boat at different RPM and loads. I think Eddies experience in Whipple, EFI, MEFI, and boats was my best option . BUT if he screws it up he might find out why the boat is named "fast hands" LOL |

These engines were originally built by cropper for the black outerlimits race boat when it was owned by someone else . Sgro bought the boat back to race it again, he pulled the engines and had them sitting on the floor at Outetlimits for 2 years. July 4th weekend my engine hatch blew off my boat at 120 mph so since I needed to have a new hatch made I wanted it flat , without big air scoops . I bought the engines from Sgro with the plan of using just the Whipples . After opening engines and seeing the quality parts and LOW hours (34 as per the MEFI) I made a few minor changes with Zul's help. Ritchie is semi retired but always willing to help his friends. We dyno'd the engines and made some changes to the MEFI Calabration but it seems that too many people have had their hands in there through out the years, cropper , Zul , whipple, Potter .... These guys have all been into the program and by the time I owned them they were password locked with no code to be found . We wiped the program and started from scratch. While the engines ran great in the 65 degree weather here in NY they were running very rich when the boat went to Fl in Nov. This is because the MEFI has many parameters and compensators that will adjust fuel and timing .
