I owned and have some time in many different very fast v bottoms so I know a little bit about the topic. So what is the true question. Is the question who has the fastest v bottom today or who holds the fastest v bottom records or who is still building the fastest v bottoms or who's v bottom is faster with the same power. To be fare someone needs to put merc 1350 in a Fountian to get some real speeds to compair to the OL. As for the description of a peasure boat is it a cabin or a canope or runs on pump gas only. Keep in mind the cats just use LOTO as the braging rights. I know every boat I have run, they each will do differant things better, the only common thing I can say is, set up, set up, set up, that is the biggest thing anyone can do.

What model Skater did you buy Bill.

A outboard 30 putting 400r on it. Taking a break.

brian did a great job with those boats. But when they first tried passing off the 29s run as a new super v light record was a joke.

Sounds like a fun boat and certainly easier to maintain the 400s over the 1075s. Where did the SV43 go.

Interesting reading with links to some great vids. You guys have some amazing boats!

Slightly off topic but America doesn't use the metric system, that's fine, so why use miles, lbs, gal, mph, feet and then call your speed runs "kilo runs"? Are the boats too light on fuel to complete a mile.....?lol. Is it to keep records in line with European measures or something?

I missed that you meant race boat, not pleasure boat in the previous post for an SVL record, that changes the the post dramatically, I unfortunately inferred the from the post that there was a 150+ mph record for the fastest 29' pleasure boat and that the the OL 29' boat broke some unknown or self proclaimed record, now I understand, agree, and accept the correction, BUT I did not realize that either boats were pleasure boats, did I miss something, or did my reading comprehension fail me again? Yes OL builds a fast boat, no argument from me on that.

Earlier in this thread there was a video of Dustin Whipple's OL boat which is far more impressive to me then the OL 29' SVL record, at least for me.

Busting your balls, don't get upset. A boring, cold winter night, nothing but good banter.

Any HP difference? How much do you think the cast headers are good for before they cost you power?

The old headers were a 2" primary with 32" runners and a 4-2-1 collector, but they were a rectangular port casting so the header would not have an overlap/ledge on the exhuast port of the head. The motor didn't have a very large cam either, so the headers didn't restrict as much as one would think.
