I have been following this thread from the begining and just wanted to put a differant light on the topic. I owned and have some time in many different very fast v bottoms so I know a little bit about the topic. So what is the true question. Is the question who has the fastest v bottom today or who holds the fastest v bottom records or who is still building the fastest v bottoms or who's v bottom is faster with the same power. To be fare someone needs to put merc 1350 in a Fountian to get some real speeds to compair to the OL. As for the description of a peasure boat is it a cabin or a canope or runs on pump gas only. Keep in mind the cats just use LOTO as the braging rights. I know every boat I have run, they each will do differant things better, the only common thing I can say is, set up, set up, set up, that is the biggest thing anyone can do.
OL is building some incredible boats producing shootout type speeds in everyday pleasure configuration. Awesome. |
I'd love to see twisted metal with big power like the outer limits had. Rumor has it TM ran 150ish with 850s. So some turned up 1650s should really have that boat movin.

like I said I'm not a cheerleader far from it on OL...
But I guess fanboys exist no matter the product category so maybe I'm the odd man out. |

Mark, you had a good driver that day.......I had to run hard to get to the bridge in front of you guys(one of the 1075 guys)..... I miss days like that and at LOTO. See you this summer I hope. I think that was the weekend we got into the crab traps and mess up the wheels and the boat would only run 122.

I'll have the fastest straight v-bottom over 41 foot! :)

I guess I'll never understand this type of mindset, or the anti Fountain stuff either. I think any manufacturer that raises the bar and pushes boundaries should be commended. I get that Reggie was a strong personality but he pushed boundaries with his boats...that's to be commended, same with OL, Skater, and some of the other top tier builders. I'm a fan of all of them I can say. OL and Skater seem to still be pushing it...I would kill to have either one of them.

I get that the original poster asked in general who owns the fastest boat currently, but out of curiosity is there anyone on OSO anymore that actually has a fast boat that is not an out the box 150 mile an hour boat? I read a lot of threads where the cheerleaders come out of the woodwork for their favorite brand of boat but never have even turned a wrench or don't even have a clue the work it actually takes to get an offshore boat 110 plus mph.
