Build a 650-700 hp engine. N/A or blower?

And the stock GM bottom ends will live fine at that power level. No need for new cranks, rods, pistons, oil pans, cylinder heads, and so on.
Full force tim has probably wasted 40-50 thousand on replacing his 420hp mercs in his old cig, to make his boat go 10mph faster by going to bigger cubic inch engines. 3 years ago, he could have done a basic rebuild on his old 420s, a cam upgrade , slapped a 250 blower on them, and made his 630hp he just made with his new engines, with alot of gas money leftover.

I Disagree, Blower Motor 700HP range is easier on the drive then a NA 540-598CI Engine. N/A with those cubes are stump pullers with tons of torque. Compare a DYNO Sheet from a 454-509 with a Blower on it versus a 540-598CI NA. Look at the Torque numbers and what RPM that torque is being made. NA make big torque throughout the RPM bands that most of us consistently boat at like ( Cruising speed). Blower Motors are only making that big torque when you have the sticks on the dash and making the boost. Either packages can be reliable. Just my 2 cents

Once you go blower, it's hard to go back to NA. The torque diffrence is night and day and if you like a seat of the pants feeling, it's hard to beat. Blowers gerenally pull until the sticks can't be pushed forward anymore while that last 500 rpm in a NA takes a little bit to get there.
If I was starting from scratch I'd probably build a NA engine in that power range because it would be a lot less expensive than having to buy a pair (in your case 3) blowers. If I was working with what I had, I might go a totally different direction.

great info here guys! I see for base big low end torq N/A is probably the way to go till cruise speed without hammering, and if you want the fastest to top speed, blower will pull all the way up till max rpm
