I think, easier to have happen than what we think.
I've been in the situation on my boats, a few times where I thought of how easy that would be to have happen.
Very scary and can't even imagine having it happen or being a witness to it.

...Or he was on the bow platform at speed and bounced forward. Article said it was a 18' flats Mako - helm to engine length is about the height of a person. To go from helm area, over the side and all the way in front of the prop seems like a lot in a few second but I guess it can happen.
There was a young girl up in the Muskoka's that was riding in the bow of their family 200 Nautique open bow. They hit a wave and she bounced out of the boat and was clipped by the prop and lost part of her leg.. That was a sad day as they were nice kids.
However it happened, this guy's life will not be the same.

Guy doesn't look as bad as I thought he would:

WEST PALM BEACH — A boating accident, that resulted in horribly disfiguring injuries to Daniel Pena when he was thrown overboard and sliced by his own vessel’s propeller, wasn’t caused by a wake from another watercraft but by a steering malfunction, an attorney representing the suburban Lake Worth man said Wednesday.
Shortly after filing a lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court, attorneys representing the 33-year-old married father of two say they will seek millions from Tracker Marine in connection with the March 5 crash on the Intracoastal Waterway about a mile south of the Ocean Avenue bridge in Lantana.
