Mike struck a deal with eliminator. They engaged in a partnership. Im sure he didn't sit back and think, "they'll build an inferior boat". Different build process. Mike, the founder of OL that probably knows a lot better about what was good for OL than anyone on this board, believed it was a wise business choice to have eliminator build the boats for whatever reason.

I presume part of his decision to do this had to do with the lack of financial gain of building an OL 29 at a lower price point. any big manufacturers have dabbled in the "let's build a smaller entry level boat at a reasonable price" game only to find out that the build cost comes surprisingly close to that of much larger vessels with way higher prices (cigarette vice comes to mind). The cost recovery is just not there when you compare it to larger boats.

Eliminator is an outstanding boat. Better yet, run by down to earth, boat loving, outstanding people. Their history, including lake AND ocean racing, goes back nearly 50 years, which not many boat builders can claim. To dis eliminator just shows ignorance and a lack of respect for a company that has been there since the beginning.

I have no doubt that the labor costs must be less for Eliminator to build a boat in California vs OL building them in Rhode Island.

I mean...just look at all those sanctuary cities in CA....

I was told by multiple sources at o/l that when a hull is laid up they use continuing lengths of material, so 1 continuous piece front to back only over lapping side to side if that makes sense. Eliminator was using pieces of cloth where ever they fit, if a piece on a roll came up 2' short they added 2.5' off another roll.

Anyways, just wanted to say I love that orange 29. Only question is, even though the seats are alcantara does that black get crazy hot? I've been in a few cars with that material on the seats but not an open cockpit boat.

The underlined parts are the ones I took offense with. Maybe I am being too sensitive. Then again my 40 year old Daytona is still in excellent shape and holding it's value well.
