We just tried to do just that 2 weeks ago in Sarasota. Lot's of interest, actual boat count low.

If someone puts one together and really works at promoting it for next winter, we have some members who are interested and would support it.

Regional media coverage, web chatter, word of mouth, are all needed as is peer pressure. No event starts perfectly but given a good run if you are doing the event next year it will grow. get the word onto the web and into the media channels and away you go.

There was one time. A lot of years back I was about in the same exact place when a rain squall / microburst came up the channel. It was like looking at the end of the world coming at you and being my boat ramp was on the other side of it running away was just going further away from home and into open water. Put the life jacket on and waited for it to come. Tunneled a couple waves just trying to keep it pointed into the wake (wake started coming from all angles after it started to bounce of the shoreline down both side of the channel). 20 minutes of pure hell but we came out of it wet but intact. I get back to the ramp and then home and as I pull up the wife looks a little overlay excited to see me. She tells me that the storm was all over the news. It flipped a water taxi in the Inner Harbor killing a bunch of people and
when she couldn't get ahold of me (due to my wet phone) she called the coastguard. From that day on it was my true love. I've had sleeker and I have faster but there is none better for where I live.

Awesome Story!
What is the power and speed of your Allmand?

How would the rounded keel help in the rough stuff?

You're in big water when the US Navy does a hot-lap past your quiet cove in a 350'+ combat ship. Lol
