Maybe next spring we should get a group of boats together and have boat pix follow us. I am looking into taking up a flying raft and see if those are feasible for taking photos. I called on renting a helicopter, 410 bucks an hours and I would need it for 2-3 hours, too much money for me to put up front.

Default Let's do it

If you decide to set it up next year, let me know, I'm sure I know a couple of people interested in getting some pics !

If we all throw in a few bucks it wouldn't be so bad...........I think for the most part, we could get enough footage to make everyone happy. Heck, we could even get some footage / or pics of everyone that chipped in running in a group. That'd be a good pic to look at in the winter !

WHOS IN ?

I had a helicopter follow me at Lake St. Clair over the 4th of July weekend. Submitted a requested to BoatPix.com and just got the pictures the other day. The Pics are pretty good, but I had hoped for better. They sent 4 pictures, 3 were 8X10 and 1 16X20. The 8X10’s are $100 and 16X20 is $250. You get a 30% discount if you purchase the whole package. I’m still debating, they give you 10 days to decide. I’ll probably get them, after all, I’ve been boating for years and this is the only time I’ve had a chopper take pictures of me.

Everyone that would like to get a helicopter shot going, send me a response by email to [email protected], that way when I have together I can send everyone an email.

Thanks
Tom

Tom,
The guy who’s usually out at Muscamoot with the flying dingy gives demo rides. I think it’s like $25 for 15 minutes or so. I know after a 15 minute ride he’s then got to land and find another rider. He seems to keep busy, but if we could arrange something where we used him for a couple hours for a couple hundred, it might work out for everyone. I’ve run across the lake when he’s out and he probably runs around 50 mph (I’m sure it depends on wind conditions). A helicopter is probably the best idea, but this might work pretty good for a lot less money.

I talk to the dealer at the boat show, said he would take me for a demo for $50. Then he will take me up for about a hundred bucks an hour, so I will give him a call and try to get out.

Boat Pix sent me the photos yesterday, its 275 bucks for 3 8x10s and 1 14x20. Great shots, but the grain is a little heavy and dust spots on the prints. Debating on buying them, maybe try to get some better quality prints and I will do it. Anyone want to see them, let me know.

Sent my photos back today. I just didn't feel the quality of prints was worth the $275 price tag. Its just a matter my opinion

That's illegal, I have a professional photography business on the side and it sucks when I find out someone has taken my work and scanned it.
