Crashed 35 Fountain

Does anybody remember a 2007 or 2008 35 Fountain that crashed in the Pompano Beach area in about 2008? I think it hit a bridge and tore the side out of it.... I think it had Red/Yellow graphics on the side. Palm Beach Offshore Marine (Got a good story about them later) ended up with the boat last year... I was told the boat had 13 hours and 525's. It was tied up in a lawsuit or at the Insurance company until last year sometime...

Thanks in advance for all the info.... Derek

I think the boat you are asking about flipped in the open ocean......new boat, no skills, step bottom + turn = swimming!

I am 99% sure the guy that bought my trailer was the owner of that boat. He needed to get it out of a marina that was charging him to rack a wreck. The trailer was going to allow him to store it somewhere for free but that was 5 years ago when I sold it. The story was the insurance wasn't active so I believe they were trying to sue the dealership for allowing the boat to go out without insurance so they could collect from the dealer's insurance.......it seemed like a longshot case for sure.

Cashbar got the last ride on that boat if I recall correctly! :D

Man That is awesome info!!! I bought the motors from a guy down there and he never shipped them. I need to somehow get the vin of that boat, or the dealer that sold it, marina, etc... Hope you can help..... Thanks man!!

I don't think that had red/yellow? I think it was blue(ish)

And it didn't tear up the side it ripped the stern apart at the bilge bulkhead.

I just messaged LSjr for pics

The beak makes a great reference point to make sure you are towing a Fountain straight when upside down.

And no life jacket to boot! Um um um , shame on you.
Back to the ducks..

Tinkerer 04-08-2016 04:43 PM

If they are going to tow it that fast WHY didn't they at least try to tow it bottom down and see if they could get some of the water out?

1000 islander 04-08-2016 04:50 PM

That's funny, I was just talking a couple hours ago how I wanted a beak off of a wrecked Fountain to have Phil Hess graft onto the bow of my Bayliner Trophy center console!

Keep your women close and your Fountain boat parts closer, you could run across one of those Formula 353 Fastech owners, over there on their forum, with their high tech grid chit falling apart, looking to steal the bottom out of a Fountain so they can own a boat that does not chit out on them.

thisistank 04-08-2016 06:03 PM

Damn that was a long time ago.

One more dumb-a$$ theory on where the 'beak' design came from......

Cash Bar 04-08-2016 10:52 PM

Okay, for the THOUSANDTH time. I wasn't on it when it flipped. I went in after the two guys that were. It started to sink quickly and was bow-up. I climbed up to the bow and got a line on it. We towed it in a circle until SeaTow got onsite to right the ship. I was only on it about 90 seconds. I, too, knew that line was a danger at that point.

And I was pretty sure it was blue(ish). And now I'm sure I needed a better diet back then. I think that was early '06. Maybe around this time of year.

Nate5.0 04-08-2016 11:06 PM

I think it's great pic.

Surprisingly strong denial about formulas being built like **** from that group too.

Does anyone have pics of the boat out of the water, or know the dealer that sold it? Maybe even what marina stored it?

How fast do you have to tow an upside down Fountain to get it up on the pad?

Last I saw it, the sun pad and a large part of the bilge bulkhead were floating away towards Cuba. Probably got paddled back at some point. LOL

Yea, I think they were grafted to a 1953 Ford pick up and carried 26 cubans to key west.

bobkatz 04-15-2016 10:41 AM
